A company makes record profits in one calender year. There is a brief pause for an acknowledgement or a celebration at the end of the year. Soon after though it is overshadowed by a reset. All is forgotten about the previous year. New Targets are set. For many Departments, it is simply impossible to carry over old targets so it is back to the drawing board.
If your company is like this, you are not alone because I can totally relate. It is just that no matter how much we try and get used to it, there's always that feeling of sheer ridicule. I mean for my company especially the fanatical approach of hitting that reset button on everything and wiping our slates clean is certainly followed to the letter.
I understand the need to keep the drive as hot as possible. There's is always a tendency to rely on past achievements and simply slack off. However I believe some companies are rather ruthless in the way they wipe the slates clean. There should always be some consideration of what has been achieved, even though it doesn't count in the moment.
From a personal note I always reflect on past Deeds when it comes to the way I treat people. It simply isn't something to overlook. I believe in compounding deeds, and unless goodwill is powered down and withdrawn like here on Hive, then it should always be considered in every decision making.
