It isn't like there hasn't been previous attempts at short form content on the Hive chain, because I can remember vividly how apps like Dbuzz came into the scene and were celebrated. I also recall how places like musings.io were milked out of relevance by a few users and never did get the attention it sought. So with that said it is worth asking what the excitement is all about with leothreads?
As someone who has come to like long form content (not too long though) it would be difficult to ever really abandon it for the microblogging style that threads offers. That said, it isn't necessarily a mutually exclusive relationship and threads offers a lot of symbiosis even for full content bloggers as perfectly captured by acesontop in his article. What is left is simply to leverage on the advantages that microblogging provides in expanding our own reach on the space.
What excites me most though is the effect that threads has on new users. is the creative potentialn as well as the community potential, two areas where we often struggle to gain a foothold when starting out. Making the best of original articles on the chain doesn't mean getting noticed unfortunately, and it can be quite frustrating to newcomers who feel their quality content should be enough to get them noticed.
Again as highlighted by acesontop, the networking part of threads is one important area that newbies should not neglect. Hive is as much community as it is content, and unless you are bringing in your own fanbase, chances are you are going to have to network as a content creator in order to get noticed. This is where threads comes in, as it allows us to go throw a good number of users and share ideas without reading whole articles. It is brilliant.
That said, myself and many others have voiced our concerns about potential abuse of the platform, especially as a way to farm rewards. That doesn't seem as a big source of concern for now though, for some obvious reasons. The first is that the community in its current size is fully capable of making an active check to how things are run while the focus should rightfully be on expanding our reach.
Is Leo the Right Host?
Since I mentioned other projects similar to threads that haven't quite performed, what then is the cause of excitement by the community concerning this one in particular? The answer lies within the question, the community. leofinance has been able to weather the storm and develop based on sheer determination and support by its developers and core community. I spoke about it being one of the easier ways to onboard the Hive platform today and I imagine threads just makes participation all the more easier.
If something could potentially transform the engagement side of how in the medium term, this is our best bet for now. The guys are on to something, and I hope it has the kind of effect we all desire.
I'd say Leo is the right host purely because they deserve to host it with all the hard work they've put into it.

The work ethic of leo devs is simply insane. If I put that much effort into anything while in my early twenties I'd be a master by now
They compliment each other and it's easy to ask questions and opinions in leo threads
It is. I only wish the place gets its rightful attention in the cryptospace...with time no doubt
