History tends to align itself, the future aligning with the past; and vice versa.
As I began growing up mentally (and continue to), Donald Trump took the seat of President of the United States. Not particularly a small feat considering the US is technically deemed the power of all powers.
Pardon my French- At this same time, the George Floyd nonsense began as well. Giving birth to the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.
This wasn’t a political party but an ideology of liberals in that America was founded on “black” peoples’ suffering. In that the police to this day continue to prefer to use more violent measures the darker your skin tone became. This false allegation spread like wildfire, quite literally if you take a look at the siege on America’s foundation and the riots stretching from Los Angeles to New York.
During this time, we saw the tech behemoths such as Google, twitter, Facebook (who owns Instagram), and Snapchat begin to suppress either news outlets that dare went against the grain of current public affairs. Or they would outright ban/blacklist individuals themselves posting on behalf of these outlets. Worse yet it seemed a free for all considering there wasn’t room for another social media platform that would allow anyone to speak their minds or outlets to post as they please.
Move forward to today - almost 2 years post elections - and Donald Trump (Allegedly) I take a look back as I watch a documentary on The Making Of a Tyrant and notice all too many similarities since I’d started paying attention to “the real world”.
During the Trump Era (2016-2020) a majority of Americans’ began parting from actual corporate media - and began relying on social media for their daily news. While this is entirely justifiably a poor choice for individuals, it’s just as poor a choice one can argue to rely on centralized media. Hence folks like myself taking to decentralized media.
An effective dictator seizes control of all media, be it corporate media at their highest power such as CNN, MSCNBC, etc. Any remaining big players such as FOX in this example. The technocratic powers began lightly blacklisting accounts in 2016-2018.
Then came 2019, the lovely “novel” coronavirus-19. Call it what you will, the Chinese Flu was just one more issue to tack on to the American citizens’ onslaught of day to day worries. Why would an outbreak of a disease with a lower mortality rate than the common cold be grounds for Congress to grant emergency powers to the Federal government and its’ miniature pathfinders?
While we may never know the answer, this was the final domino. Or more accurately speaking - a slide of hand trick. The people had taken to their own media while this continued to somehow play on.
Due to the ‘deadly’ COVID-19, the federal government enacted ‘Health measures’ resulted in a full quarantine along with other ineffective measures. What in the hell does any of this have to do with Tyranny?!
The mixture of the Average Joe losing faith in centralized/corporate media shepherding him into social media wasn’t favored by the federal government. How could their propaganda be an effective tool if it wasn’t being used? The answer? Take the propaganda to the people. Better yet known to social media users as the famous fact checkers.
History is written by the victor, as we’ve all come to learn. Therein unfortunately I have no objective evidence of the ironic claim that I myself have been blacklisted by both Facebook and Instagram. However one can look at the Twitter platform and wonder how terrorists, such as the leader of ISIL are free to post whatever they may. Yet the 45th President of the United States who advocated against centralized powers such as we’ve come to witness on a daily basis here in the US in 2021.
