You can browse old, dead and the archived websites from the Wayback Machine. I use them to check back on the sites which used to be alive when I was in college. Many are indexed and archieved but now they are no longer maintained. Many website owners died and so such sites are in archive.
Unfortunately, I was in college before websites were a thing. Even the World Wide Web was not around.
I am sure you have technically seen rise and fall of yahoo, lycos, and many web1 giants in those times.
LL yes I did. I remember Webvan and when that was suppose to be the next big thing in changing society.
Do you find those days exciting or todays social media and people more exciting?
This is the most exciting time to live in. #technology is going to radically alter society.
Those who yearn for the "good ole days" forget how shitty it really was.
I used that a lot in my days of venturing around the web, although to tell the truth I didn't give it a necessary use.
Oh, yeah... I have used the WaybackMachine for a few things in the past, including one website that I used to frequent, but now completely dead to salvage some of what I posted in it.
