I can second that. Those films were outstanding, given that Peter Jackson was thrust into directing them when Del Toro abrubtly quit, leaving Jackson to have to wing it.
This is the guy who said:
"I don't like little guys and dragons, hairy feet, hobbits .... I don't like sword and sorcery, I hate all that stuff"
So why in Gods name would you hire him to direct this beloved franchise only to quit?
Guillermo del Toro should never be allowed anywhere near another Hobbit movie for the rest of his life after what he put the fans through.
