NETWORKDAYS Function

Function Type:

Date and Time

Description:

NETWORKDAYS function in Excel or Google Sheets calculates the number of whole workdays between two dates. This function is useful in formulas where you need to calculate the number of weekdays or commonly known as business days. It will exclude the number of weekends in between the 2 dates specified.

In my head, NETWORKDAYS is short for Net Workdays (Difference between Dates excluding weekends).

Function Structure:

=NETWORKDAYS(start_date, end_date, [holidays])

Argument Breakdown:

start_date - Start date (date can be serial number format)

end_date - End date (date can be serial number format)

[holidays] - A list of non-work days as dates.

Example:

Based on the first example where Start Date is 2/4/2023 and End Date 2/15/2023, we can count all the weekdays with this elaborate screenshot of counting with the help of a calendar.
