Crypto is in a very weird space at the moment.
People that know crypto and understand it are in really high demand because the skills required to contribute to this space more or less need to be self-taught. You do not even need to know coding, just in-depth knowledge of the scene can help you along the path to a successful career change. There are no or very few university courses or official education facilities that have what's required to educate everyday people on this stuff. The only thing to do is to dive deep and it all has to be done in your own time.
Education
That makes people who know their shit a really, really valuable commodity. But it also means there are massive barriers to entry for normal people because the only way to really get your head around this space is to dive in and spend hours and hours and days and days and weeks and weeks learning. We haven't even come close to being able to flatten out the learning curve via abstraction - and as such, if you're here,
- you're here because you're in love with the idea and you use all your spare time to learn about it
- you already have a job in the crypto space
- you're wealthy enough to have the time to invest independently
- you are on Hive/Leofinance grinding away and learning at the same time
To add to all of that, you don't just learn 'crypto'. The concept is so intersectional and large in scale that inevitably, you end up having to learn about:
- Economics (both macro and micro)
- Politics,
- Philosophy
- Communications
- History
in order to have a well-rounded and reasoned understanding of the space. That requires large amounts of time and dedication - most of which most regular people don't have.
It turns out I have quite a bit more knowledge and understanding than a lot of people trying to get work do at the moment and this has been a bit of a revelation. It's good to know, but understanding that now makes it clear that by far the largest barrier people encounter in this space is education. It's going to be a real issue unless (until) payment rails are smooth and all of the complexities of Crypto can be put behind a nice simple UI that is compatible everywhere and easy to use.
This right here though;
It's going to be a real issue unless (until) payment rails are smooth and all of the complexities of Crypto can be put behind a nice simple UI that is compatible everywhere and easy to use.
That's when the supercycle really starts to kick into gear. That's when we get really, really excited because of the pace this industry is improving at.
Going back to 2017 and now the difference in options and possibilities is enormous and it is all improving exponentially. Make sure you have some crypto investments spread to the main projects and be ready to keep learning and absorbing knowledge.
Maybe all this could lead to an amazing career opportunity or enough wealth that you do not even need to work anymore anyway...
