# HACKERS USE EMAIL TO MINE CRYPTOCURRENCY 👨‍💻

Cybersecurity researchers have discovered a unique method used by hackers to deliver malware for crypto mining using automated email replies.

In this type of hack, in the automated replies, the hacker uses some tactics that install XMrig Miner on the victim's device and mine digital assets. The hackers targeted Russian companies, marketplaces, and financial institutions.

As the hackers use automated replies, this delivery method is dangerous because potential victims initiate the communication, whereas in a normal mass delivered message, targets have the option to ignore emails.

XMrig is a legitimate open-source application that mines the Monero cryptocurrency. The hackers have integrated software into their attacks, using various tactics to install the app on different systems since 2020.
