Loosing something very valuable is very painful and sometimes they are never recovered. @burlarj recently lost his power bank while charging it in a public place. He has since gotten a replacement, choosing not to pursue the case.

A power bank? That can be really painful especially if he lives where there isn't frequent power supply.

Thats the kind of place he lives - our place hahaha. Happy he bought a bigger replacement. But the lessons wont be forgotten fast. Never charge your device in a public place if you wont stay and watch it.

That's true, I've seen people who have gone through similar circumstances and it was a very terrible one.

omg, captain @burlarj what I am hearing man :( very sad to know. You should be careful in a crowded place with your belongings.. I also lost 2 smartphones while taking bus rides.

2 smartphones? Waoooh thats massive. I am so sorry to hear this. Please always avoid leaving your device in a public place. Thats a very risky thing to do.

yes on 2 separate incidents.. i didnt even leave them, they were in my pocket and got theft :(

Oh dear,so sorry about that. I didnt know how i developed that habit, but i always always have my phone on my hands. I think it has saved me from having my pocket

that's a nice habit, i should adapt to it too XD

AL of us. It really helps to keep things very tidy

yup and from getting theft XD

Finally saw this, you would always be at alert now, sorry man, I haven’t loss my stuff when I am physically present too cos I am always at alert

Wow stolen from your pocket or bags? And that happen to you twice? Or you lost both phones at once?

no from my pocket man, and on 2 separate incidents while i was travelling back from my ofc in bus :(

It was painful to loose the power bank, but the author handled it well. Have you have lost anything valuable? Share your story. #gosh

I don't have a similar story of leaving a device somewhere...

But I remember when my first External HDD broke, it was really painful!! Tried many things to restore the data only to fail. After, I became really paranoid when saving files.

That must be very painful. Sometimes the data in a HDD could be more valuable than the device. Bad experience. Am sure you learnt to always back up very important files in case of hardware failure.

Only a few of the data have been lost forever (dozens of family photos.) Most data I lost, I could redownload online.

But this happened at a time Internet was very expensive. It would've taken months to get all re-downloadable stuff.

Actually charging my phone in a place am not going to seat and wait is a bad idea, unless is a place i trust de people and am sure the people will protect it.

That is true. Many people have lost their phone as a result of charging them in a public place. I have never tried charging in a public place in years because of similar experiences.

Even in my house when my cousins come to visit, I learned to not charge my phone in "crowded" rooms, (though I still do it,) it's sad when people don't ask permission when they find an not-in-use charger around the room...

@samueluche07

That's what happens, even if we travel home lot of people will come in to charge when that happens, things might go wrong.

Yeah, these happen. When a charger swaps between many hands it gets worn out faster.

Sure, even crowded rooms could be risky because someone could easily misplace the phone or other device. Its important to be safety conscious first. For me, its safety first.

Luckily, none of my cousins steals things, but the fact they use them without permission, (even after I told them to ask for it,) makes me a bit sad/angry.

I do give them excuses like "He thought it was his charger."

Yes using without permission could still lead to forgetting to keep it back. As such you could still loose it. Happy you have great cousins. They sure need to take permission.

If is in public place i will seat and watch over it.

I lost my foot wear sometimes ago till date it baffles me it's as if am watching a movie where something is here now and the next minute it's gone never to be seen again

This happened at home? Because if it is outside, it could be embarrassing. Like how did you go back.

It's usually painful to lose something not to mention a valuable one. Years back, I lost two phones same day on transit and it was as if I would die. I stayed months before I could get a new one.

Two phones in one day? May i ask if its at the same spot? People could be heartless if the same person took the two phones. Thats so sad. How you coped with that scale of loss should be a motivation to endure adversity all your life.

Yes,

It was rather out of carelessness. I was coming home at night and while seated in the vehicle, I kept them on my laps. I got to my bus stop, alighted and they fell without me remembering again. Got home and realized what happened.

Waooh. That is really terrible. SO sorry about it. Am sure you learnt your lessons ever since

It was really a had time for me, staying without phone for months.

Of course, I became extra careful when I got a new one.

Thank you.

It is really painful. But my joy is that, the theif did not go with his laptop too. And he said he will never leave his laptop or power bank all alone to charge again

Thats a tough lesson. Yes the the laptop was saved. Thats really the best part. Lessons can really be hard.

The day I lost my phone inside tricycle was one of the ugliest days in my life because till date, I can't explain how it happened
