RE: LeoThread 2024-01-22 05:17

in LeoFinancelast year

Today, we will see another round of #afcon matches and I decided to create this #threadcast so #football lovers in Africa and all over the world can talk about this event.

The last group games will happen this week. So feel free to talk about anything so far in the afcon matches - the goals, skills, stats, results, injuries, officiating, etc.

We will also use this threadcast to provide live update of the Guinea-Bissau VS Nigeria Match.

Predict the correct scores of any of the matches today and win 1 Leo for each correct prediction. Here are the fixtures:

  • Equatorial Guinea VS Ivory Coast (17.00 GMT)
  • Guinea-Bissau VS Nigeria (17.00 GMT)
  • Cape Verde VS Egypt (20.00 GMT)
  • Mozambique VS Ghana (20.00 GMT)

Note: Prediction entries end 30 minutes before kickoff

WOW, wow, that man is a serious threat to footballers anytime he appears into the field, he will just scatter and maneuver all of them, let's see what happens there 😂

Which man are you talking about? From which team?

I mean that Mohammed from the Egyptian team, he is another Maradona

The guy is really exceptional!!!!

His way of playing football attracted me when my husband watches football that's how I noticed him.

He is surely very skillful and intelligent. Scores a lot of goals

Yes, that's how he became popular to almost all football lovers like my husband and I have followed him to know him too 😂

Wow, my predictions are:
Mozambique VS Ghana 0:2
Cape Verde VS Egypt 2:2
Guinea -Bissau VS Nigeria 1:4
Equatorial Guinea VS Ivory Coast 2:3

Thanks so much for these bold predictions. Noted.

Yes, Equatorial Guinea VS Ivory Coast are known Lions in the African jungle of footballing, these two countries are known for their strong force and stamina in the field of African football, it's gonna be seriously tough. Let's see 🤠.

Yes, I dont know that you know a lot about football. This match would be a tough cracker especially as Ivory Coast lost to Nigeria Earlier, they need to win this match.

Nigeria will just generate super power any how maintain.

Lets see how it goes tonight. will you be watching the match

My predictions are;

Ivory coast will win Equatorial Guinea
Nigeria will win Guinea Bisau
Egypt will win cape Verde.
Ghana will win Mozambique.

#AFCON #football

Thats not a way to make predictions. Its not a win or loss thing. The scorelines are needed.

I must be a witch go determine that correctly. 😁
httpss://media.tenor.com/gaEpIfzxzPEAAAAC/pedro-monkey-puppet.gif

For your entry to be valid, we need you to attempt the scorelines.

This year's AFCON has been full of surprises, each match day each surprise.Thete are no more underdogs in African football.I love the way these small football countries are giving the prominent ones a run for their money.

Yes there have been many surprising upsets. For example, no one saw Cape verde beating Ghana 2-1 in their earlier group matches

It was a very big upset.Ghana came into the game with so much confidence thinking that they have 3 points already on a platter of gold but they were shocked.

That would be the biggest mistake any team will make. Its really terrible. Now see where they are in the table.

In life, you don't underestimate anyone, Ghana taught it was business as usual

Thats trues and they found out the hard way. Minnows in football are re-writing history now. Take them for granted at your own risk

If it were in the 70's or 80's when heads of state of countries will order that the players be flogged for not playing well.A lot of players from big football countries would have taken asylum in Ivory Coast.

Imagine Cape Verde beating Ghana and Egypt struggling to equalize in their first and second group game matches against opponents they could have easily beaten before.

You are really following the game. I was really surprised with how Ghana lost to Cape Verde. We need more of such surprises.

I wish we will see a completely new winner this time.I am tired of seeing the cup being rotated amongst a few dominant countries. The only exception to this is if Nigeria wins because a lot of us feels we don't have a good team and a coach 😂😂😂

Yes, it would be nice to see a different country lift it. If Senegal successfully defends the cup, then the other countries have not developed their football in two years. That would be sad.

It will be nice if Cape Verde, Burkina Faso or Morocco win the AFCON if Nigeria doesn't win the third place as usual

I think Cape Verde has never won it before. Although they are impressive already, I see them finishing second or third.

Yes,they have been consistent in the last two editions of the AFCON and they are showing promise of better things to come for them in football.I won't be surprised if they qualify for the next world cup at the expense of a big team just like Angola did some years back.

That was a painful surprise, believe me Ghana will soon occupy their position again 😂

You mean Ghana would win their remaining matches? Are you so sure?

Ghananian always come with unbelievable surprises, so let's watch and see how far they will go this time.

Yeah, sometimes things go that way but it can never be a permanent place for them, they will rise again to take their place, let's watch them do just that soonest

The small countries have risen, could this AFCON be their bull run?

Yes ooo that's just it, you know sometimes prediction work as we wish some other times it flops.

That flopping part ehhh, especially when it's an upset.

My predictions for today's matches:

NIG 2--G.BISSAU-0

EQUIT GUINE-A 1 COTE D --2

CAPE VERDE 2 EGYPT -2

MOZAMBIQUE 0 GHANA -2

This is a very bold prediction. Thanks you for your entry. I really feel that Cape Verde and Egypt would be the toughest match of this group although Cape Verde has already qualified.

Yes, I don't see anyone displacing them from that top position in that group

Sure. The different in points is very large already, after just two games.

I used to work in Equatorial Guinea and being Spanish speakers that love their football, had some great players too!

It is the #1 sport.

It really is.

Amazing! I never knew you have been to Africa before..

Oh heck yes , I have lived and worked in more African countries than most Africans have been to!

Oh my world. So encouraging to learn about this. Waoooh. Seems like your career took you around the African continent.

Nigeria Gabon Cameroon Angola Equatorial Guinea Libya Algeria Tunisis mostly ...The oil and gas industry and mostly in war zones too

You have been to my country Nigeria? Waoooo!!!

Yes ser used to live and work based in Port Harcort

Can you guys imagine the score line between Equatorial Guinea and Cote d'Ivoire? It's 4-0.I can't believe this will ever happen to a host country like Cote d'Ivoire.

Are you serious? Nobody predicted this scoreline. Very outrageous

I'm in shock ,it's an unbelievable score line.I hope Didier Drogba isn't watching this.

Everyone that saw this scoreline would be embarrassed by it. What a shocker!!!!!

It's a huge embarrassment for a host country.

They deserve to be booed as they where in fact booed off the pitch by their fans

In fact I am speechless, the team may likely be disbanded after the tournament

This is a very interesting topic.

Sure it is. Are you watching any of the afcon matches so far

Yes, I watch some of them. But I didn't want to watch Nigeria's last game against Ivory Coast because I didn't want to have BP. but the boys surprised everyone by dominating the match and winning.

Hahahahahha. We Nigerians always have High blood pressure each time the team plays because they are not always convincing. But this time, they delivered. They have a solid defense. I watched the match

I only managed to watch the extra time of the match oo

The defense was something else. So solid. So I am more confident watching them now. I will see todays game.

I can watch a game as the one against Guinea Bissau because of the predicted outcome.Nigeria should try to top the group though the group is still open.

AFCON always produce fun games and some unexpected results!

Thats for sure and we have had a couple surprise results already. Like Cape verde 2 - Ghana 1. Have you been able to see any of the matches?

North African teams Algeria and Tunisia are not finding it easy. Did you see that in the tables? below: @philings, @ijebest,

source

Imagine, Egypt that is one of the favorites to win has just two points from two matches same with Algeria. How can one explain that Angola is topping a group that has Algeria.Tunisia case is unexplainable just 1 point from two games at the bottom of the table.

These are the surprises we are talking about. A lot of upsets here and there. Am actually surprised to see Egypt struggle at this stage of the competition.

Yeah, let them keep struggling, others may not give them that chance to manifest from their hide outs, I mean looking at the whole table, it's very tough 😲 wow.

They use to be very technical sides and tough. Not anymore. Things changed a lot.

* Mozambique VS Ghana 2:2

* Cape Verde VS Egypt 0:1

* Guinea-Bissau VS Nigeria 0:2

* Equatorial Guinea VS Ivory Coast 2:2

I thought you said you don't know much about football but this predictions are those of an experienced football pundit.

I cant agree less with you. She predicted like a seasoned fan

Even football betters won't be this good in their predictions.😂😂

Impressive predictions. Thanks for your entries. Which of the games if any, will you watch today?

If I see a bottle of #beer I will wacth the game

Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian winger has returned to Liverpool for medical treatment. He has been injured and out of the team. He is to rejoin the team after treatment

It would be a tough match between Equatorial Guinea and Ivory Coast. The host need to win that match to boost their hopes of qualifying for the round of 16

Senegal is bossing Group C. Any surprises here? @philings, @ijebest,

source

This is fearful ooo, you know Senegal has a very strong team, they may still keep boosing the group C ooo lol

Yes. I see them going far in this competition. I hope you know they are the defending champion?

It doesn't matter, the table has been turned, in short it's tougher now than then.

Of course thats right. Performance is needed to go far, not past records.

I see Senegal topping the group and Guinea also qualifying but I don't see Cameroun surviving that group. If they qualify,it will be an upset or miracle as things stand.

I think you are right in this. Cameroun will find it tough. But I heard also that in this competition, the third placed team would still qualify as the best looser. So maybe Cameroun might be that 3rd looser.

I just hope so but based on their performance so far, I don't see them going far in the tournament.

At all. They have little time to get it right. I think that generally, West African footballing nations have not grown in the last few years, except Senegal.

I feel the corruption in African football is the cause of underdevelopment of West African football.

Excellent idea. I hope others join in.

This is a great thing for people to get involved with.

All football fans should dive in.

Aaaahhh, so nice to see taskmaster here, are you making any predictions for the outstanding games?

Nah. I am here throwing in my support. Not my thing and my knowledge level is zero.

However, I can support all of you who are fans and enjoying the contests.

That is a way to encourage more to participate.

Very good work from you, your support is really needed.

Sure. We will be having a lot these more and I plan to grow a local fan group right here.

ops my bad. Here are my predictions for these games today:
Ivory Coast
Nigeria
Cabo Verde
Mozambique

Are you watching any of the matches.

No my friend. I wish I was. It don't show on TV here in Canada.

Cabo Verde and Mozambique will win this trophy. VIVA CV and MOZ VIVA!

Looking at the table below, do you think Nigeria will qualify from this group? @philings, @ijebest,

source

Of course yes, because COTE D Voire will do everything to qualify from that group and I don't see Guinea Bissau beating Nigeria, the worst may be a draw if they play hard just for the pride. They are out already.

Yes. I think winning Ivory Coast gave Nigeria some moral boost and it was massive. I see them beating Guinea-Bissau too.

There's no upset expected in the game against Guinea Bissau, the worst will be a draw.

I feel that way too.

Aha, don't just panic for Nigeria, they have always been able to maneuver others to win, same can also happen in this match, they will come up with some strategies and win.

I am also confident they will win. I never saw them winning Ivory Coast, but they did. It was super surprising.

Football field is always full of surprises and it continue to happen.

Sure. I cant wait for the match to kick off. 7PM local time. You will join us for the threadcast here

I just learned that riot broke out in Abidjan because the Ivorian the national team lost their match. The players had to abandon the team bus and run for safety.

This is serious. Why will they do that? They tried to attack the team?

Yes, the bus was pelted with stones out of anger shops and vehicles were burned also

I condemn such acts and I think if its officially recorded and reported, FIFA will take action against the FA. Its just a football match and nothing more!!!!

The fans can be crazy at times.

keyboardhats sad

God of Mercy??? Has it been resolved

I think the authorities have brought it under control. The love of the beautiful game can make some do terrible things.

This is serious the fans are very very angry
Same happened to the ghaneen team yesterday they had to abandon their bus

A lot was expected from the Ghanaian team by their fans, now they are on the brink of elimination.

Seriously just 6 min to the end of the game and they got equalized the fans anger are indeed justified

Same is happening to the Camerounian team.

Wow wow, it's 2-1 against Cameroun

The matches are really interesting 3-2 now wonder which team would win

Cameroun eventually won, the match was intense and full of energy.

Nigeria will win

ivory coast will win

Thats not a complete prediction. You have to indicate the scoreline.

i don't really know much about football, is my best game, do I even like games, but let me predict Sha.

Maybe you need to start watching football matches. I think you will like it

I will start by buying a television set in my house hahahahah hahahahah hahahahah, maybe that will help
Lol

As you can see below, Cape Verde has already qualified from this group after winning their first two matches. Big surprise. @philings @ijebest

source

I think they may try to retain top spot so as to get an easy opponent in the next round.

Yes I will be so surprised if they fail to top the group. They already need draws in the remaining group game.

Great job @fokusnow in getting this over 100 pageviews. That is needed.

Thanks for the encouragement. Ready to do more!!!!

If there is football everyday, we need a threadcast like this to match.

Getting a hundred pageviews per day really can help it to grow.

Sure. We can actually make this place buzz a little more with regular, threadcasts to match current events. There are matches tomorrow and I will

I am glad to see you taking this up. Yes it is something we need to do to generate a buzz.

There are sports blogs that get thousands of comments during games. I hope the football fans on Leo dive in and help to bring even bigger numbers.

No reason your threadcast shouldnt have 500 page views and a few hundred comments.

I will be working to bring more sports fans here. Once there is a steady flow of users that have same passion, it would be easier to have regular threadcasts like this one. Its a project I want to push this 2024.

It is a good project and one that can be highly success. #football has a lot of fans and can be used as a means to communicate with others.

This can drive thousands of page views on the individual threads if people start showing up.

First half of the game between Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau just ended. Nigeria is leading by a goal to nothing. It has been a cracker

The Guinea-Bissau team is trying to play from the back. But this Nigerian team is technically supe

The other game in group A is still goalless between Ivory Coast and

What league are these games? I presume there are a number of leagues throughout Africa?

Sure there are local leagues. This particular one is for the AAfricaCup of Nations going on right now in Ivory Coast.

Good to know. As I said, I know very little football and even less outside the EPL.

Glad I am getting an education.

I knew Nigeria will win and I predicted it before they started yesterday, 👍👍😁

Very insightful.

Did you bet on Nigeria?

I didn't bet at all, that was just an instinct from inside telling me Nigeria will win, yeeee, I got it right 😂😂

Nigeria is a footballing Nation much like many other African countries. Its the number one sports here. With millions of fans following all footballing and sporting events, its a cool niche for threads to attract users.

Yep. And with 200 million Nigerians, there is a lot to draw from.

Get a few hundred on Leo and engaging in football threadcasts and it will be a major winner.

This is something I can do

I will hold you to it. LOL

I will work on it. Already planning a large niche-based onboarding event. I will definitely get football fans here and make them use here as a place to engage and talk about their passion. Definitely working on getting some nice crowd from around here to join threads.

They are African equivalent of the European Euro competition or the American CONCACAF competition. All African national football teams play in the qualifiers and the teams that qualify get to play the AFCON,it is held once every two years

Ah ok. I see.

wow 2 ties, 1 loss, and a win for my picks. I suck at picking teams lol.

Unbelievable, Cameroun has just been stunned by the Gambian team but as I was typing this Gambian scored an own goal to make it 2-2

Things are happening at this AFCON

And Cameroun has just scored another goal, this game is really emotional and unpredictable

A Gambian player just tried the Maradona's famous "Hand of God" but the goal was disallowed. He forgot that we now have VAR.

Cameroon finally makes it the next stage, just by the whiskers

And the sacking has started ooo.Ghana has just sacked their coach after the teams elimination from the AFCON, while Ghana has also been fined for the actions of the fans.Heads are beginning to roll.

I learned that a player at the AFCON is called AK-47 quite funny but his effort was able to shoot his team to the next round.
