So that’s it for Bittrex…

it was fun while it lasted. I had a Bittrex account as well. Used it a couple of times. But ever since the steem debacle, I stopped using it.
It might have even been the very first CEX that I got an account with.
But yeah, same as you I hadn't used it for ages.
Plenty of better alternatives.
Were they actually a part of using client funds during the Steem hostile takeover?
I can't remember.
i think someone some funds belonging to steemit or stakeholders whose funds were frozen after the hostile takeover and sent the funds to Bittrex.
Oh yep, that's right, I remember now.
I can see how that left a bad taste in your mouth
Did you ever have a Bittrex account?
If you did, have you gotten your money out all good?
Share your story in the replies.
RIP. the last centralized exchange account i had open, and literally only because they had HIVE & HBD.
it was also one of the first real exchanges i ever used that wasn't coinbase.
gg Bittrex
🤝 Bittrex.
They had a good run, but it was time.
yep, may it rest easy
All of these places are going to come crashing down. DEX is the next move but they are also the next target but it will take the government another 3-5 years again to figure that out lol
They'll smash the front-ends, but others will just pop up in jurisdictions that don't care.
Thennnn they'll come for the centralised networks themselves.
That's when its really game-on.
so long! It was a crappy hard to use exchange anyway, lol
I'm trying to think back and I'm pretty sure it was my first exchange.
That and Cryptopia!
Remember that NZ one that you could buy all the tiny shitcoins on that went bust? 😂
So many have come and gone at this point, lol. I never messed with Cryptopia myself but heard of it. I got into Bittrex because of STEEM but moved when I found other options. I used TradeOgre allot because I mined all the random Monero forks and such, lol. They also had allot of the masternode crap coins, lol. Lost my butt there early on too, lol. Oh well, live and learn, now it's down to basically Hive, LTC, and XMR, lol. I use BSC for a leverage trading DEX called ApolloX. You might check that out. I can trade FOREX pairs there as well. The liquidity works off of a LP pool and you can trade all kind of contracts, on chain, which is awesome. With their V2 exchange, you don't have to deposit anything, but you have to incorporate some BNB gas fees on top of the exchange fee which on normal mode is 0.08% both Maker and Taker.
Wow that got longer than I planned, lol.
Oh man masternodes!
My biggest crypto loss was a masternode coin called SmartCash ($SMART).
Ohh wait, if I ignore it's lost 99.99% of its value since I invested, it's up 2% today!!
😂.
lol! Yeah I had a node, lol. Safe Insure was my biggest MN loss.
You were in SMART too??
Yep, unfortunately wasn’t a very SMART move, 😂
probably tthe least, if any, shady. Such a pity
Reading between the lines, it seems they attracted the ire of the US regulator, tried to split the business to still cater for international users, but all funds were still mixed so were fucked.
The noose around the nexh of CEXes gets tighter
Just can't do business in the US.
That's the lesson here.
Avoid like the plague.
What is Bittrex kekw
Like many of us here on INLEO, I had a Bittrex account.
Simply because it was one of the early exchanges with $HIVE and $HBD listings.
But as time went on and Bittrex’s trading volumes, especially on $HIVE diminished, the listing became useless.
Then came the US regulatory nightmare and now the last remaining arm of the company has thrown in the towel.
So starting December the 4th, all trading activity on Bittrex will be disabled.
After that date, withdrawals will still be permitted.
But obviously it would be a smart idea to transfer any remaining balance you may have into crypto and get it out.
It’s not worth the risk.
