Don't be too hard on yourself on this one. Enjoy the best of the both worlds. Local football is fine to promote but don't need to hate the money pumping, media frenzy professional extravaganza :)
All pro sports are big business and can get too greedy. NHL did it a few years back with all the outdoor games, like 8 in a season. Overexposure watered down the original New Years Day winter classic.

I still take a romantic view of having an emotional connection to your local football club.
But modern football only exists to line pockets of foreign owners, league administrators and tv execs.

Haha, I'm under no illusion that US sports are purely a business.
I've embraced that & can happily enjoy hockey for what it is.
But when it comes to football, I can't shake the romantic view I have...
Football is meant to be different.
...but the reality is that it's not.
And so I just get more disillusioned by it each day.
