Did I Made The Best Financial Decision On A Barbing Saloon?.

in LeoFinancelast month

The hardest challenge most teenagers face in life is what comes next after school. Two questions that keep popping through their head would be "Should I look for a job ? Or rather Open up a business.

I wasn't left out, after my university and NYSC it happened that no one seemed to care anymore about my life but myself. I have to survive somehow. And one way or the other each and every one of us will experience this phase.

Hubby and i decided to open up a barbing saloon, it was practically hubby's passion not mine but i had to flow with it as a means to survive and sustain the family, We named it after our first son “Greatness Unisex Saloon”

We spent up to 3000$ just to equip the store including buying the necessary electronics and items needed for maintaining both men and women hair, including paying two years out from the shop rent

The idea was to employ people who got the skills, employ a well skilled barber, and have a hairstylist as well, eventually we just had to go with employing a barber first and I figured an alternative with me just assisting with minor work around the store.

Actually the service we offered was Barbing, hair dyeing, hair styling both male and female hairs , piecing (anywhere around the body), Drawing of tattoo and nail fixing

At first It was the best financial decision, but one thing about a business is being there for it. With me running up and down managing the kids affairs I just wasn't meeting up with the shop any more, I wasn't giving the shop enough attention it needed.

I wasn't meeting up with the goal any more because of my kids' affairs. At some point I have to leave the business for the person who was handly the barbing of hair to manage the store and reserve the money that he worked in the money vault.

I was actually thinking about “The stress” hubby is hardly around to assist me, because he is always on the road looking for new opportunities.

The stress of me taking the kids to school, going to the shop, and then by 2pm go bring them back from school, bath, cloth, feed and do their assignments and then take them back to the shop to monitor the business then at about 7pm i close for the day come home and prepare dinner. The stress just isn't adding up any more.

It just wasn't the kind of life I needed at this early stage of my life, my dreams, and passion is earning passive income at the comfort of my home so I can be there for my kids and spend quality time with them, I had to stop going to the shop and only go there once in a while to observe a bit and collect the money they've worked for the week. I decided to stay at home and focus more on my online hustle and kids.

However’, the barbing saloon started depreciating, the fault wasnt solely from the customers but from the workers. You know there is a saying that “If something isn't for you, you don't value it because practically you don't know the struggle and sacrifice it took for that thing to be there in the first place.

We started changing barbers just looking for the right one who would elevate the shop and work very well with us, and at the end we found out that all of them are a bunch of lazy idiots who don't want to work.

Well for me investing in a barbing saloon is basically the worst financial decision I've ever made and sometimes on my quiet time i would just be wishing “If only i could go back in time to do things differently,” Probably if i had invest that much stash on hive 2 years ago i would know the value and worth of my upvote. But all things being equal I guess my business is faced with the decision of either closing it down or giving it a third chance.
