Just look at that nice number... Since today have over 30,000 HP! I've never had this much Hive power before.
If you want to read how I've done it and what my future plans are.... just read on.
Investing in crypto
I've been hanging around on the Hive blockchain for over 4 years now. I was already a littlebit into crypto coins at that time. I was intruiged by the fact the values of coins could increase (and decrease) that fast so you could gain some wins. I spent a small amounts of my savings to buy and trade some coins over a year or two. In the beginning it went pretty well and I multiplied the value 5 times, but with the first large dip it dropped back to the value it was when I started. I discovered I wasn't really good at it.
Then somewhere along the way I discovered Hive. Earning crypto by creating content seemed very interesting to me. As an amateur photographer I could create some nice blogs and I saw how much Hive some posts received. So I created an account, converted the crypto coins I had left to Hive and used that to power up my account.
The Hive Blockchain
The start on the Hive blockchain didn't go as smooth as I had expected. The first post received quite some rewards, but the ones after that received very low rewards. That didn't measure up to the effort I had put into it.
But I soon discovered I needed to give it some time; I kept blogging, engaging and investing in my account.
Over the years I've used some of my earnings to invest in some projects; both on the Hive blockchain and some on other blockchains.
When I spotted a project that looked promising, I converted some Hive and invested in the project. Some of those projects paid off, but most of them were rather hyped. Just like with the crypto trading I did in the past; I won some, I lost some. My Hive stake didn't grow faster (as I did expected it to do by investing in promising projects).
For the second time I came to the conclusion that I'm an emotional trader and therefor sensitive to FOMO!
But my Hive account did keep growing. I kept powering up my Hive and after a few years I even managed to become a Dolphin.
HBD
After unsuccesfulyl having invested in a couple of projects I decided to play more safe. I took my crypto out of the failing projects and converted it to HBD. HBD was pretty stable at that time since it is pegged to the US Dollar. And moving it into the HBD Savings resulted in a massive interest of 20% per month. I've even powered down quite some Hive to convert it to HBD too.
For months I've kept compounding my HBD and move it to my savings. My Hive payouts were 50/50, so I also did keep growing my Hive stake.
At a certain moment I had over 3800 HBD which resulted in a monthly reward of 63 HBD!
But then, last month the witnesses lowered the interest rate to 15%. That would still mean I would receive 57 HBD per month. Especially when I compare it to my normal savings account where I get 1,75% π
But there was another aspect that made me decide to change my course.... the price of Hive.
Hive price drop
I was a bit disappointed that the interest rate on HBD went down by 5%, but 15% is still a massive amount. And to be true; 20% really was a bit too much. And at the same time the price of Hive kept going down. When the price was about 0.17 USD I did some thinking...
I can't remember the price of Hive being this low. And crypto always has it's ups and downs. I took a look at the Hive charts for the past months and I saw we've had some highs and lows. The highest peak was 0.475 back in March. A few year ago it even spiked over a dollar, but I don't see that happening very soon again. But Hive is not a dead project, so I do expect it go back up again sometime within the next year.
And when it does go up, I'll have more gains than with my 15% HBD. Yes, HBD is a safer choice and I can get it out of savings much quicker than a power down on Hive, but I don't need the money right now and I'm still in here for the long run.
If the price of Hive will go back to 0.475 USD that would mean a growth of almost 180%. That's quite a lot of years of holding HBD in your savings account.
So I decided to withdraw my 3800+ HBD, convert it to Hive and power it up.
So now let the price of Hive grow again!
Curation Rewards
One of the advantages of having a larger stake is that you also gain more curation rewards. My current vote at 100% is a pretty 0.25 Hive.
And when I look at the statistics of the Curation rewards I received last week I see they are between 1,189 en 2,275. The average amount will be sommething like 1.75 Hive per day. Which isn't a lot when you see the price of Hive at the moment, but it is nice to grow my stake even more.
Since the amount of staked Hive I have has grown with 336%, my vote value will grow that much too. That means I will receive about 5.88 Hive per day within a week. And that's really nice π
It's not only nice for me, but also all the posts that get my upvotes. I have some auto-voting configured, but I also do some manual voting. Since I have more voting power I think I will lower the amount of auto-votes and do some more manual voting, so more people will profit from my grown stake.
I'm curious what the future will bring, but at least I can sit back, relax and keep on having fun on the Hive blockchain with my improved stake.

My first reaction was 30HP?!!!π€
Then I remembered you're from Europe, it's 30k, and that deserves a shout out!! π₯³π₯³π₯³. Congrats on the big power up!!
Curation rewards doesn't offer as much return compared to the 15% savings from HBD. But sometimes it's not all about money, otherwise we could just focus all our effort on the crypto market, I hear you can get much higher returns than 15%.
Personally I think it's all about one's long term view on Hive and how much you want to put in vs taking out. We need more people on the former instead of the latter.
That said, I took the liberty of looking at your curation returns as I've been looking at mine recently. You're currently just over 2% which is very low. The average is around 8ish, over 9 is very good, so on the bright side you have a lot of upside to grow be your account even more!
He just powered up, so that changes the curation rewards % negatively :D Gotta wait those 7 days before the right average is there :D
No wonder! I was going through his curation activity and couldn't work out what the issue was apart from the occasional very late upvotes and him dropping his VP to 80%. Good to know all is good now. thanks
Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!
Totally π π―
Haha! 30 HP would be a strange amount to dedicate a blog about indeed π
No it doesn't, but I also calculate a higher Hive price within a few months or maybe years. I'm in it for the long run. And Hive itself also has an increase of 3.35% by the way. I even forgot that myself too.
The times I withdrew some Hive I mostly moved it to Hive related projects. And most of the times (like now) moved it back again too.
Hmmm. As I mentioned I have configured some auto voting so I didn't waste too much of my Hive power and I don't have to spend all day upvoting posts. I do see my Hive power is quite high now (89%), but mostly it is just above 80%.
How can I improve my curation returns?
Thanks you for reacting! !LUV
I see you've changed your title π
I'll come back to you on how to improve your curation return, I want to check something on my computer first to see why yours is so low
It's probably cause he just powered up so his last week's rewards compared to the 30k hp he has now would only be 2%.
Ah, that could indeed be it. I'll check again next week. Thanks!
That makes perfect sense!! I hadn't thought about that π
Yes, I did it because this is the way it is shown in Hive too. Maybe I should change it to 30K, which is clear to everyone.
Thanks!
I'm also on Discord by the way (if that makes it easier to communicate).

Congratulations and good luck on the continuation of your journey.
Four years of experience at HIVE already gives you some stability in your strategies.
The beginning is always difficult for everyone but with persistence and confidence in our work it all gets.
September is a terribly month for the cryptos, I hope the month will pass fast. Until la, resilience is accurate.
Continued of your great work on the net, both in your personal posts and the weekly summary you make about the various photo contests.
You're right. There are so many settings, rules and projects on the Hive blockchain. It's hard to keep up with everything.
I'm still leasrning new things which is cool!
September will pass and better times will surely arrive someday again. Until then I just keep on growing my stack πͺ
Thanks! I will!
Congratulations for the success you have gained. I too I'm learning from this
Thank you! Good to hear that!

I think we will test our all time lows from November 2020 of .10 cents so Iβm currently Earning HP but now buying out right with cash. If/when we hit .11 cents I will be adding 10K or more HP!
Unfortunately there is a lot of sell pressure and I think itβs unavoidable but as long as we have long term outlook we donβt have to worry about it and just keep earning!
!PIMP
Its possible, but if Bitcoin manages to get into a new pattern and then there is a rate cut then we might be up from here!
I have no knowledge of the figures, but this isnthe lowest I've seen it in ages. Well just keep on collecting Hive and wait for it to raise again. I'm confident better times will come eventually.
Hive is alive!
Good move. You wonβt regret it.
Thanks! I think so too.

.I've had this idea bouncing around in my head since I noticed Hive price is pretty much where it was when I first started interacting with the chain. It's made me feel bullish about Hive. I'm really motivates to grow my stash during these low tide!
Yes, the low price is perfect to collect some more Hive indeed!
Wow! Your post is very insightful specially for me who doesn't know anything about the crypto world.
I learned quiet a few things. I guess now I'll just have to keep on posting so I can earn some hive and hbd. Then I can have some savings too. Wow! My earnings is so far from yours, probably in Pluto!βΊοΈπ€π
You are my idol @friendlymoose, it's good to look up to someone. I just hope I'll be able to grow my hive just by posting.
Well, the good thing is I am just enjoying sharing my life experiences here from my side of the planet and hope gain a lot of friends in the process.

You're welcome. I guess you mean Binance, don't you?
I have converted some crypto to Hive and moved it to my Hive wallet before.
I've done it with the following video:
But beware! That has been a while ago and I don't know if that still works in the same way. When you are going to do it, always test it with a low amount first to see if it works.
ah yes Binance fast typing mistake
thank you for the info !
i will check possible there is some more new info
It's nice to see you identify the benefits of Powering up. For me, it has been one of the fastest ways to grow not only my own account, but also to support HIVE and help others grow their accounts.
As you mention, adding HP increases it's value many times over even a short period of time exponentially, increasing your vote power increases your curation rewards, which increases your vote power, over and over. It's amazing to see the bump in daily and weekly curation rewards flowing into your account even after a relatively short amount of time powering up each month. I hope more newbies and others start to recognize this power even more.

Congratulations man! That's a really good number, now might be the best time to convert HBD to Hive. I keep converting too, I just don't have as much HBD as you do that's all lol. Let's grow together to 50k!
Thanks! I had been gathering HBD for quite a while, so with the low price of Hive the amount of Hive is quite massive.
But every power up counts.
Wow! Congrats π₯³ well done.
Good thinking, let it go up againβ¦

Thanks! Up! Up!
With this dip in Hive price that's a pretty decent move to make. I've also used most of my hbd savings to swap for hive, although I jumped the gun a little earlier! π Fingers crossed to see hive at 1 usd again! !BEER
One dollar would me amazing. I don't expect that to happen soon though. But it doesn't have to happen soon. We'll just have to be patient!

Wow congratulations to you. I've literally taken screenshots of this post so that I should never lose track of it. Your journey is really an inspiration to someone like me because, when I joined Hive about three years ago, it didn't really get in my favour because most times I post, it gets really low reactions and at times, no reactions at all. It really discouraged me big time because of the work I put into it yet, nothing. It got to a point where I stopped posting on Hive, and was inactive for almost two years. I just recently started posting. Even though I still have some difficulties with positive reactions, I've made up my mind to keep posting persistently no matter what. And seeing this post of yours today just inspired me more and more. I look forward to following your steps.
Thank you π
It's a matter of creating quality posts and interacting. Just make good posts and friend with the same interests as you.

Who knows. It doesnβt hurt, so whennit pays off it wil be a nice gift.
Congratulations, my friend.

Nice to read thru your journey. Very inspirational and lot of patience. Good luck for the next achievement.
Thanks!
Smart move i did converted around 700 hdb to hive but at that time hive was at .22 if i remember correctly i hope this will be fruitful in the near future. Now I am 100% Powering up all my posts to increase my hp more and fast. I am hoping that i will cross 45k by the end of the year. If the price remains the same.
45k would be massive! I've switched to 100% Hive payout for my posts too.
And I also have 1 HBD interest payout of 30+ HBD in a few hours that Inwill convert too.
What it the amount to become an Orca nowadays? I thought it was around 55k before.
That would be a nice goal too.
indeed, if the price remains the same I am sure I can achieve that. aha, that is great, you are 100 % bullish that is a good sign. yes, that would be around 51k to 55k I am not sure though.
good luck keep powering up.
Yeah the APR drop caused a lot of people to stop and buy HBD.. I certainly did my share..
Congratulations. I am happy for you
