RE: Reach of Hive Blockchain; On Boarding; 2nd Layer Tokens

in LeoFinance4 years ago

I always have a laugh whenever I see this topic, and there's a reason for that...

Was invited by my sister to join in 2017, back then Steemit is the only frontend and the only way to join is to wait for a week or two after the sign-up.

After getting my account approved, I spent a week learning how to post (markdown & attaching images are not as simple as today)(yes, that was a thing before, almost mandatory)., it took me another week to finally complete my very first post. That's 2 weeks in total. Within that time, I'm trying to figure out "how to #introduceyourself"

And then I spent almost 2 months trying to understand the mechanics, the 3 tokens, and how to network. During that time, I can't grasp why a post with a single photo with very few words can earn $100+ while mine that's 500+ words with multiple photos can't even get a dollar (except for Curie curated posts). Anyway, I moved on.

The one who invited me (my sister) took a long pause because she needed to focus on her MD. She had a good grasp of the mechanics & everything about steemhive, exchanges, and basic aspects of blockchain. Compared to me, I was a real "steemhive dummy".

Fast track to the present (a few months ago), my sister re-joined steemithive and she was really surprised by the many changes that happened. I had to explain to her why there's Hive, Community feature, Tribes, Hive-Engine... etc She's dumbstruck. She had a hard time trying to understand the whole mechanics again. And even though she was a very experienced user in the early days of steemithive, it took her about a week to fully grasp the basics of the new steemhive.

It's a really tough task to explain Hive to anyone who I just bump on the street.

Bottom line, until we have a way to educate a regular person in one sitting over a cup of coffee then we can never tap into the general masses. We will always be a super niche "closely integrated" community.

Simplify, simplify, simplify... as much as possible.

Yes, mostly agree. I also waited 2 weeks back in Jan 2018 for my account. Personally I don't like others to "open" accounts for an user. No where in the modern web that works.
