It is again this time of the week! “Shar Your Battle” time and this time around we are battling with dragons again! In this episode I want to specifically focus on a Dragon card that just recently got added. Well, with recently I mean that it is a new reward card: the Dhampir Infiltrator. We will discuss its advantages and some of its drawbacks. Furthermore, we will talk about the different situations that you should use this card in as well as the cards that I was playing with this card. Last but not least we will actually take a look at the battle that we were able to win once again!
Dhampir Infiltrator
Let’s begin with the card to watch! Like you already know, it is a card from the Dragon Splinter which makes it usage very unique. We can use it in combination with every card in the deck as long as we select it beforehand. Well, this is nothing special for dragon cards, but I think that this allows us to have an extra level of diversity. Anyhow, why did I specifically focus on this card today? Its base stats look pretty weak don’t they? For 4 mana we are getting a one attack melee card with two health and 2 speed. Pretty shocking isn’t it?
Well, the good part comes now! It is a Sneak attacker with the Double strike Ability. This means we will attack twice in one turn and then focus the last minion of our opponent. That does not sound too bad does it? This means we can put this card wherever we want. On top of that it excels pretty quickly into a very quick striker and from level 4 it is even increasing its Attacking Power to 2! Yes it also gets the Cripple and Affliction Ability but I think these are not as important as the first two Abilities.
Let’s also talk about the situations where best to use this card! First up,, because this card is costing us only 4 mana, every little mana restriction is a pretty good use case! Furthermore, I would use this card when legendarys and epics are forbidden as there wont be too many high quality cards any more. But where this card really shines is the Explosion Ruleset!. Why you might ask? Well, with only one melee damage, it is still able to damage the card next to its target with one more damage! And because we are attacking twice its pretty much four times the damage that is displayed on the card. This does not sound too bad in my opinion.
On the other hand, I would avoid using this card in use-cases with earthquakes and Poison. Because this card has no armor and almost no health it would die far too quickly. I would also avoid using this card when the abilities are turned off or where you can not attack the back line. In these cases, this card loses all its advantages and is pretty much useless.
Damage Units
Now that we talked about the main card, let’s take a look at some cards that will help us to deal some more damage. In this particular battle I combined the dragon Splinter with the Earth Splinter. In general, I am a big fan of magic attacks which is why I selected two Magic Attackers here. Both are very similar because both are relatively fast with 5 speed, have no armor but instead a good amount of health and have the flying ability. But while the Void Dragon can additionally protect itself very effectively against Magic, the Regal Peryton is more or less an easy target for magic attacks.
Both cards are very nice for damage dealing, due to their magic attacking style and fast speed. They are almost always attacking first and in the case of being in the first position, they have a great chance of being missed. In my opinion, these two are very great additions when it comes to a dragon team.
Support Units & Buffer
In order to complete our team and fulfill the perfect strategy in the upcoming battle we are also needing some support and buffer cards. The reason for this is that we are actually having a Explosion Battle where we said that it is very smart to use our main card here! In order to protect the main card and also the other attackers, I always like to play Queen Mycelia. She gives us an extra two armor on every monster and allows us to take more hits than usual.
On top of that we need a tank that is able to take on some damage. Here the best choice is almost always the Hill Giant! Because we only had 25 mana to spend and the Hill Giant has 6 health for just 3 mana it is basically a no-brainer to paly this card. It will absorb most of the attacks and has even the chance to occasionally hit the opponent. Because we are having an explosion battle, we also need to think about the explosion. This is why I like to use buffer cards behind the tank who are able to absorb this damage. In this occasion I used Fungus Fiend as this card does not cost anything. I would say that other one-mana cost cards are as equally possible.
Example Battle
And now the moment that we have all been waiting for! Let’s take a look at this glorious battle that we were able to fight and win. We have matched with a player that was lucky enough or rich enough to get himself the new airdropped legendary Fire Summoner Jacek. A very clever move as the scatter Shot Ability allows him to hit anywhere on the field and with the Explosion Ability it increases the chance to hit our support units.
He chose a very valid strategy but our masterplan was very successful! Dhampir was able to deal a total of 8 damage and kill 4 of is units! Now if that is not a great statistic then I don’t know what is. We also benefited from a very strong armor net that we build for ourselves with our summoner and Mycelia. All in all I think that this win was more than deserved. 😊
