Are you new to Splinterlands and searching for some advice, then you found the correct series! In this specific showcase episode, I wanted to talk about a very popular format on YouTube: Cheap VS Expensive. But we will obviously not talk about YouTube but discuss this format within Splinterlands. More specific, I want to focus on the legendary cards here. For that we will take a look at the range of cards that are being offered on the market and talk about their real in game value. With that being said, if this article motivated you to start playing this amazing game, then feel free to join the fun over the following link:

Cheap VS Expensive - Legendary Cards
Before we jump straight into the comparison, I am telling you this: Since I am definitely not a Splinterlands mogul I will be focusing on cards that I personally consider expensive. With this being said, there are much more expensive cards out there that I do not even try to comprehend and not even dreaming about buying. So we will focus on a more “affordable” price range.
Let’s start off with the cheaper side of the market. What we are seeing here are most recent releases of cards. The simple explanation why these cards are on the cheaper side is because they are newer. With more people playing this game, the newer cards have a bigger print amount which increases the supply. On the other hand, the demand for these cards is currently not the highest which one of the biggest reasons why those cards are in this range of the market. On top of that there are still legendary cards that were distributed as reward cards which is why their supply is as high as it is currently.
But what about their actual skill inside the game? I do believe that the majority of legendary cards are very useful, no matter how much they cost. Therefore, I would sue the opportunity to buy some of these cards for my deck. Especially Djinn Oshannus, who I mentioned already several ties in other posts, is a card that definitely will improve your deck. Other cards like the Fiend cards, are always great add-ons to fill your board
While the cheap cards are worth looking into, there are also the mid level cards that are always worth considering. Now these cards are a mix of older cards that are just not as available as the newer ones and really good air drop cards. Furthermore, there are some cards in there who can increase the sharpness of your deck by a mile! These cards I would especially focus on here. With Kain Hace and Runemancer Florre, there are two amazing cards out there who are able to decide the outcome of a battle. While on the other side, there are also those legendary summoners who are offering our cards amazing boost, like Possibilus the Wise. In my mind, these cards are considered as an investment. While they could get worth more in the future, they would definitely help you get some money back by giving you a higher win-rate.
Last but not least, let’s take a look at the more expensive side of the market. Here, we see almost no new cards. The price of these cards is definitely driven by their scarcity and not availability anymore. On top of that these cards are also very useful in battle as well and by owning one of these you could consider yourself a very strong player (if you use them well!). Best example is Kron the Undying! This card literally is destroying me single handedly at the moment. Especially when my units are not only focusing on him, this card is just cutting through my teams like a hot knife through butter. Let’s think about the following question: Is it worth spending 45 bucks on a card that would increase your win rate in Splinterlands? Maybe! Is it worth paying that much for a card that is very scarce? Potentially! Am I going to invest 45 bucks into this card? Hell no!
Why am I saying that? Well, I think you should play with what you have. If you don’t have the money to invest, then you end to find other ways to win in this game! I think this is what makes this game so cool: there are more ways towards a target and it is not depended on the quality of cards that you are owning. There are totally enough ways to win battles without any legendary support! Yes it makes the search for a strategy much more difficult, but who does not like challenges should not start playing this game.
