I'm not a fan of this day, of pranks and stuff like that...
However, on this day this year and not only now, I kinda feel like a foul. And it's not like someone fouled me, more like I fouled myself.
I think many are in my situation now.
The current US administration came with a very pro-crypto stance, quite the opposite compared to the one leaving. And to be fair, it has pro-crypto positions so far.
I'm not talking here only about what Trump is doing, but what the entire administration is doing. And, apart from pardoning Ross Ulbricht right at the beginning, we do have a reversed positioning on the Tornado Cash mixing platform, and practically all major SEC-initiated lawsuits and investigations of crypto being dropped or closed. Probably others I can't think of right now without looking into it.
Maybe some feel cheated that there is no US Bitcoin Strategic Reserve. I don't know if the alternatives proposed will leave up to expectations or not, but there is something...
Where things went south is that the same administration made promises (on which it delivers) that basically prevents crypto, stocks, and basically all risk-on assets to go up.
The main promise delivered on that is responsible for the counterbalance to what would have been bull-inducing events at least for crypto, are the tariffs.
The problem is... we didn't pay attention, or if we did, we were in denial, thinking that some of those campaign promises are not going to happen, either because they are... campaign promises, or because it's too much or maybe even inconceivable at the time.
That's why I feel like a fool! Had I been paying more attention to that campaign (or even to the initial strong signals after Trump won), I would have made much better decisions in handing my portfolio.
We had a major victory rally, and those who sold at the top or close to it (including alts), and never re-invested from stablecoins, are in a much better position now.
In retrospect, it's obvious. At the time, while I took some profits, I didn't take enough, and I also made the mistake to reinvest as things deflated, thinking we are still in a bull market... Maybe we still are, but right now things look very far from it, especially thinking that we have economic headwinds on top of the valley we are in in crypto.
In my case, I think this should be a Foul Quarter, not day.
If this is the bottom or close to it, as I've seen some predictions, it would still be a good thing. Not an entirely messed up 2025. But is it?
P.S.: I powered up 10 HIVE on Hive Powerup Day.
Also powered up every day last month (one of 48 Hive users who did it):

Crypto is hard to predict, and many of us made mistakes. I hope the market gets better soon. We just need to be patient and make better choices next time though, I'm always learning from bad moves
Sometimes I have a feeling we learn new things only to forget them until next time. 😀
hahaha then "next time" happens and we forget again until there's a a huge scare we get that will remind us but when the pain is gone, back to forgetting 🤣🤣🤣🤣 even with the scare lol
Personally I think the pump we had in January would have happened without Trump winning anyway at least it's what I think, I might be wrong. Everyone made mistakes in January (if that's when you're referring to) but opportunities will continue to flow in as we continue to count the weeks, months.
Yeah, mostly in January were some missed opportunities. However, if I had held HBD from author rewards instead of buying HIVE as it went down, that could have also been a better choice, in retrospect.
At least I was inspired to not touch my HBD from savings.
I think it's the thrill of the pump or dump that comes with the market. You've made another significant progress in terms of learning, and the next pump will probably be different. We have all learned once again, and fortunately we're still early for later in the year
It seems to me we keep learning, and as we do, we start forgetting what we already learned.
Happy HPUD.
I don't like the pranks either...and there isn't much we can do about Trump and crypto. I feel that his focus isn't on crypto as a whole but for the larger cryptos that his advisers picked.
Now, there isn't, for sure.
For investments (particularly his own), yeah. Otherwise, there were some decisions which I don't think have anything to do with him, for example, the Tornado Cash one.
I love April Fools! It's my birthday!!
:)
Haha! Enjoy... April Fools Day!
Crypto has a way of making us hope even when a part of us tells us not to. You learnt the hard way but now you know better.
Yeah, hope has a way of clouding the judgement. I need to use that word less...
We need it too, hehe.
Yeah, I had very different expectations when Trump won, not like btc to 200k but at least stable to 100k and eventually hive at 0,4$... The world has too much uncertainty
The funny thing is that the year is not over yet, and this might be a signal of better things to come. But not with the tariff wars looming over the world...
I heard last threat to tariff everyone all around, crazy
That pretty much would happen de facto if threats are carried out...
Well, we can't judge all the runes, we'll keep HODLing on and not get too down - who knows what will happen next.
I'd hate to find myself at the end of another bull market on the hodling side, without taking profit.

Some experts are still saying it's going to get worse before it gets better. I also hope that the bottom is already in or almost in, another double digits price drawdown could be the final straw of patience for many :)
