My post from yesterday about why I'm not anxious to use AI as a content creator stirred up some interest in the comment section.
I thought I should do a follow-up about something that happened during one of the conversations I had late last night (for me) on my post.
@Steemmillionaire - whom I know for a long time from the previous chain as his username suggests - made an experiment in the comment section, and I was practically involved in it without knowing.
Here's his comment and my reply:
Now, a little context.
He does comment from time to time on my posts, usually leaving useful information, sharing his opinion, or even asking a question if he wants to know more about something I didn't speak of enough in the post.
This comment didn't represent him. It felt really awkward reading it, and I didn't understand why he showed up and dumb the expression down. And for whom?
I didn't show it in my response, but I was a bit pissed off too, lol.
Here's how the conversation continued and ended:
Yep, although his comment was strange and I felt it was something out of place, it didn't cross my mind at that late hour that he used the chat GPT to generate it.
As I say in my reply, the fact the chat GPT understands (simple) metaphors and can explain them is not a small thing at all. That makes it very powerful already!
What I believe happened was the AI saw in the input text both the word 'teacher', the expression, and 'scientific fact' and decided to take a didactic approach.
On the other side, we are not in any danger of talking to an AI and not noticing its clumsiness in picking the right (unawkward) answers which a real person will do naturally, in most cases.
I've heard that from a number of people who tried chatting with it for more than a bit.
OpenAI still has a collection of very impressive AI tools. Including one AI that writes Python code starting from natural language. Coders beware! AI is coming for your jobs too.

I didn't even realize that ChatGPT was the one responding to your post. It does look a little bit awkward but technology will improve as the training data gets better.

I actually fed the same paragraph to it and it didn't understand a bit. He must've held it by the hand a long time before it came to that response. Personally, I had to ask if it understands what a metaphor is, and then ask if this could be a metaphor (it didn't catch that either), then I actually explained the metaphor (when considering the organ is the mind) and it rehashed my words in a different form plus added some context information.
Nope, it's not that advanced after all.
That was an interesting experiment. We have enough trouble getting Alexa to understand how to turn our lamp on and off sometimes. LOL

I don't use it, but I've seen that at my brother-in-law. Sometimes he repeats many times what he wants, and wants quiet in the room too. Isn't it easier to just do it yourself? :)
You should hear my husband when it doesn't do what he tells it to do. LOL!! The air gets kind of blue sometimes. 😂😂😂

Ha ha ha! Don't you dare! Lol!
It's very good at providing templates and a starting place for humans to expand on.
As a copywriter, I've tried and been extremely critical of almost all AI writing tools.
But this one is a noticeable step up.
Actually usable!

As long as humans use it for templates and starting points, that's fine. Full AI content though, even guided by us, is not something I'd like.
By using the tool we are also helping refining the AI. It will get better and better!
Do we want that?
If you want dystopia sooner 🤣
Hahaha this is an interesting read! (Don't worry this is not from ChatGPT!) :P
I know. ChatGPT writes a lot. :)
Hi, Gadrian.
Have a nice day and evening.

The comment from @Steemmillionaire did seem a bit rude. #thriveonhive

That's ok! I know the guy for a long time, he just wanted to show that the AI content is very good when properly guided. But still clumsy in a conversation.
Oh I see! It was the Chat bot that answered right?
Sorry I misunderstood Gadrian. I had to eat some food and came back and read it all over again and looked up what a ChatGPT was. 🤣 I can get really bad mental fatigue sometimes.

Yep, it was the chat bot, lol.
AI is indeed replacing many jobs.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yes, they are. On the other hand, did anyone support him/herself financially from crypto-related tasks before the last decade?
i highly doubt so
so, new things do pop up even to replace lost jobs for some.
indeed and new jobs will be created with the need for AI too
Chatgpt is a new technology, some people are liking it and some aren't, you can have your own opinion and you must stick to it no matter what.
Actually, in general, you don't need to stick to an opinion, if you see another point of view has stronger arguments than yours. Or you can change your opinion over time, as you do more research, as more information becomes available or as things evolve/regress from the time when you formed your opinion.
AI will certainly create a lot of controversies. And opinions will range from strong supporters in any context, to strong adversaries in any context. I'm pretty sure I will never find myself in either of these extremes.
is little scary to know that in a near future AI will be replacing so many people in their jobs as the machines did time ago....
we will need to learn new things to stay relevant!
i really can see a near future were people will be using AI to create fake news
From what I understand, a lot of the content published by media outlets is at least partially automated already. But why fake news? We would probably be better at creating those. You'd need to take the AI by the hand and tell it what is the fictional content you want to have created so that it doesn't use the real facts instead.
why? because they potentially could recreate the face of any person... like a president or important people to make the fake news looks real
You're thinking many iterations ahead for AI. Right now that is fiction.
EDIT: I think I understand what you meant, which is different from what I thought you did. Yep, there are these kinds of tools already on the market. Photo manipulation holds little secrets for those mastering the right tools.
it think we will be watching that becoming a reality in about 5 years
