History of Weekly News through Adrian's Lenses

in LeoFinance7 months ago (edited)

I am in the process of making "Week through Adrian's Lenses" posts easier to navigate.

For those who don't know, "Week through Adrian's Lenses" is a weekly roundup of news related mainly to the Hive ecosystem, but it also includes a crypto section at the end. The "Adrian's Lenses" part is both literal and figurative. I can't catch everything, so the selection is limited to what I see or what I'm being made aware of (so, I appreciate when people let me know when things happen around the ecosystem, that seem worthy of being reported).

Then, I make a subjective selection myself, for every news roundup. That's why you might have noticed something like "21 of 35 tracked posts made it to this report" on every Hive update.

And finally, this is not pure reporting. For that, it's easy to use an AI and make a summary of everything. "Adrian's Lenses" often includes my personal opinion on the news or a related discussion and connections made with previous news or other elements of the "knowledge base". Sometimes I get a bit carried away (especially on the crypto side of things), and people would probably prefer a more neutral reporting on news, but for that, you should use other tools/reports. 😀

So, how am I working to improve "Week through Adrian's Lenses"?

The best quality of the internet since its beginnings is that you can easily move between related information using links. Provided there are links between the respective pages.

The weekly news updates for Hive through Adrian's lenses represent already an extensive database of information related to what happened on Hive since the beginning of 2023, with a rough timestamp.

But until now it would have been quite difficult to navigate between reports. There is a list of all these posts under my collection of posts, but how many people knew to search it there?

So, I decided to do two things. To carve out the list of "Week through Adrian's Lenses" reports and add it separately, at the end of this post, to be exact. I'll also start linking it going forward at the end of my weekly news updates.

Then, I'll include navigation links to the previous and next week's reports on each news post (work in progress). They can be found at the beginning of the post, right below the cover image (see below screenshot from PeakD). By the way, I started updating the cover image (links) too, to include the Hive logo on the new one.

The navigation links are for PeakD, for these reasons:

  • I couldn't find a way to put out relative links that work across front ends
  • INLEO opens internal links in new tabs which is awful for internal navigation. #feedback

I only added links for the most recent reports, to not have a lot to update if it comes to it (and it did). But I will continue adding more navigation links in time.

And now, this is the list of all "Week through Adrian's Lenses" Hive and crypto news updates since the beginning of 2023:

I think it's nice to consider but it's too bad that there isn't any uniform way of doing that on all front-ends. Outside of LEO, I don't think any other front-end opens links in new tabs right?

Internal links, I don't think so. For external links, it makes sense to open them in new tabs, so you won't move away from the website.

That is a good plan. I don't think I'll use the links, but I really like your summaries, so I'll be looking forward to them just the same.

You might. Say you forgot the link or the name of a new thing that was launched recently on Hive, or you remember the period when it was launched. It's a pretty easy way to look for it, provided that I included it in the updates.

Or you want to check the evolution in time of a certain event/community/project I cover regularly.

Oh I'm sure others will. It's just that I try to avoid clicking any links as much as possible, for security purposes. I know it is more difficult to hijack a Hive account versus a Discord account, but I've seen a lot of people having been burned because of links that I am wary of them.

Ah, ok. But you can see that it's an INLEO or a PeakD link in the status bar as you hover over the link.

For me it was good enough before, it was readable and understandable

Thanks! What if you wanted to check out the update from 6 weeks ago? 😀

I would go in your profile and scroll back old posts 😜

Yep, but it's more inconvenient. You'll see.😀

@tipu curate

Wow
You shared the links of the posts you have always shared. I’d reblog this so I can always check any of them when I need help
Thanks for sharing

You're welcome. I'll continue updating this post from time to time with links to new Adrian's Lenses posts, as well as add Previous Week and Next Week links to older news reports.
