From what I heard from someone who seemed to know a lot about the United States history, he considers Trump the most powerful US president in recent history. But I'm sure a Democrat would disagree...
From my own perspective, it is difficult to be the most powerful president in recent history, when the US itself isn't in its greatest shape. But maybe that's the context in which powerful presidents thrive. Rarely in the best of times.
So... tomorrow he comes into office. How will he want to be remembered? He certainly continues to make very controversial and blunt statements. Like the ones about Greenland, the Panama Canal, Canada, or the Gulf of Mexico. I'm pretty sure, after listening to a few sentences from that speech, the statement about Canada was a joke... with Canadians. Maybe Canadians didn't feel it was or liked it. Most likely, the one with Gulf of Mexico was just him toying with Mexico because of the immigration issue. The other two issues, on the other hand, I think he was more serious about, because he mentioned China or Russia taking controlling positions in the Panama Canal and Greenland, respectively.
2025 may be a complicated year geopolitically. With a Trump coming on high horses but with many issues that need to be dealt with both domestically and abroad, with Russia having an unofficial narrative of "being at war with NATO", and China expanding economically throughout the world, things can go either for the better or the worse from here. But in geopolitics we always have to wonder: better for whom?
We have new and old races going on at present:
- the race to control the Arctic Region (that's where Greenland - a territory of Denmark - becomes important, maybe that's why Trump mentioned Canada too, since they have claims in that region too, as an Arctic nation)
- the EV race between Tesla and the Chinese producers
- the AI race
- the robots race
- the space race
- we may end up in another arms race too, if it didn't start already
- a race (seems against the clock) to reduce the human population, despite it being on a descending trajectory in most developed countries (except India. as an well-known case)
- etc.
Where is crypto in all these races and others like them? I'd say, nowhere. Maybe in secondary roles in some of them in the future. Where I see its role is for the people, as one of their last lines of defense in this crazy world we are living in.
Hopefully, Trump lives up to his promises and we will have an US administration positive or neutral to this sector of the economy. If they are smart, they know this may help their citizens (and even companies) have additional earnings without them (the government) doing anything, which in many cases return to their economy. Same for other nations around the world that may find themselves in not so rosy situations now, including in developed countries.
Do you have any special expectations from tomorrow's inauguration? I don't.

No expectations for tomorrow, but I guess it will be a good day for the markets
If the same kind of reaction as after he won the elections is to be expected, then we will have a crazy green day tomorrow.
Our family strongly considered going to DC for the Presidential parade (we even booked an airBNB), not so much because we're huge Trump fans, we we're extremely relieved to have the former administration cede their power to him.
A few weeks back we canceled because of weather, cost and logistics, which got even more complicated with many security restrictions in the city on the 20th. Sitting here in my warm house, instead of driving all day, I think it was the right choice. Even the outdoor public parade has been canceled!
We'll watch it all online and have the best seats in the house.
From the results of the elections, turns out many just wanted the Democrats out, whether they liked Trump or not. That's interesting, because at the previous elections many voted with the Democrats and Biden to avoid having Trump as President again. Looks like they didn't like what they saw from the other side either.
You made a great deal here! 😄
If starts the drill baby drill plan he’s been talking about and get gas to $2 per gallon Elon will regret supporting him.
I tend to believe they won't make it to 2026 as "friends". For this reason or another, who knows?
100%
Probably not much expectations. I think the AI race coupled with robot and space race will speed up this year. Maybe even faster that we expect, if favourable(to whom? I'm not sure) policies are implemented on that front. I'm quite interested to see how it'll all play out in the coming months.
I agree. AI is on fire, robots must be since they work very well with AI, and space is a difficult race, but one that has been heating up. I don't believe in the narrative of giving mankind more chances to survive by colonizing Mars, as a driver of this race. The race is motivated mostly economically, strategically, and militarily. Maybe Elon Musk to personally be motivated by other ideals regarding the space race in particular, but most of the rest are funded with those targets in mind.
Right. There's probably a small tiny bit of "greater good" in his drive to make humanity a multiplanetary civilization. But rich resources exist out there in space that can make the miner(s) unparalleled power down here on Earth, I've read.
Indeed. Out there may be the miners' paradise. It is difficult until they get there.
I am looking forward to this administration with much anticipation of pro crypto policies and the end of government efforts to strangle crypto in it's infancy and now efforts to nurture it as a teenager. All other issues are very significant, but I am hoping he Trump will see crypto as low hanging fruit that he can easily pick and check off his list of to do's.
I am certainly happy that crypto will like stop being targeted like in the previous administration. That brought/kept the industry back a great deal. Will it be helped? Who knows? But at least firms won't be scared to do anything or be associated with crypto anymore.
I don't have too much faith but I do think it will be at least crypto neutral. Only time will tell though because he had some very awful picks last time.
Yeah, I have the same attitude. Let's wait and see, but at least crypto won't have a target on its chest.
Somewhere, somehow, i think Trump got elected based on hype and vibes and nothing really substantial. Plus, Melanie wasn't really the choice of so many people and I think having limited choices is why you people just go with the person they dislike less. So let's see if he lives up to expectations
I wouldn't be surprised if he was considered the lesser evil, especially by the moderate, perhaps undecided voters. Of course, it's always bad to have to choose between two evils, but it seems we kind of got used to this kind of non-options in recent history, world-wide.
This year is not going to be boring at all, many things are going to be defined in many areas, economic, technological and social, and above all many companies are going to abandon DEI policies, due to tomorrow's inertia.
And don't let anything happen, I say this about the rumors of an attack, from tomorrow on Trump has to take more care of himself.
I hope everything is for the good of humanity; with more freedom.
Greetings
I agree that this year isn't going to be boring. The problem is... is it going to be exciting or horrible?
Exact!!
The Don is back to see if he changes anything or if it is all about him.
That's a high risk... To make it all about him. And it might happen.
Real Trump coin crazy pump today 😃
Yeah, I heard. To me that kind of feels like Musk's moves from the past with DOGE. True, this is another level of craziness at high level.
I don't have much faith in him. He's all about his ego, but those around him will exploit that. Have to hope it's not as bad as I fear.
He's definitely a self-centered man. That in itself might not be his greatest flaw, as many strong personalities have been a little too in love with themselves. I don't know how good or bad he will be for the US or the world in his 2nd term, but I certainly hope he learned something since the last time.
The crypto part is what most people are looking at
So many don’t even consider all of these you’ve mentioned but I wish him a good tenure and all Americans
Yeah, crypto is important to us. But in the grand scheme of things, it's a small part.
It’s began
