The first impression they say lasts longer, and I think that is very correct because it would indeed take a lot of hard work for me to have a change of opinion about you after behaving rather inappropriately the first time we met. Whether it is for an official purpose or for a meeting with the in-laws, the first impression matters a lot and they say it lasts longer.

There is even an old saying that says, "There is never a second chance to make a nice first impression". Whether it is an accurate act or not, it usually takes a very long time and a lot of effort to change a first impression. If the first impression people have about you is that you are competent, trustworthy, and friendly, there is a strong chance that they would feel more comfortable with you and consider you a friend than when you act the opposite.

In a business setting, a good first impression opens up several opportunities, providing more opportunities for potential customers to become actual ones in the long run. These tips will help in making a first impression count
Make eye contact: When you are able to make eye contact with people, it is seen as a show of honesty and a pattern of showing respect to the people you are in a conversation with. Before you begin to get into conversation with people, try to make constant eye contact, this is not to say you have to consistently stare at someone.
Smile: When you smile at people, it creates some form of convenience that makes others feel comfortable around you.
Get to the event on time: If you are to get to a meeting for the first time, make it a duty to arrive there earlier. These plans must include making arrangements for possible traffic too. It is better to arrive fast than to arrive late, and this is important when it comes to making a great first impression.
Great physical appearance: When you are meeting someone for the first time, it definitely means you two have not seen before, so appearance is highly important. You do not have to look all classy and attractive, but you need to look presentable for people to admire and respect.
Be confident: Body language can speak louder than words, the way you smile, and portray confidence, will put you at ease alongside the other person you are meeting.
Be attentive and courteous: Everyone loves a well-mannered, attentive and polite person. These days, we are carried away with our mobile phones and that is not a good way to give a first impression. For a few hours of the meeting, it would be polite to just set the phone aside and concentrate on the first impression you are trying to make.

I will say that first impressions is what makes people attracted to another so quickly without even knowing each other and most of us would cal it a love at first sight.
It is good to impress people rightly on the first impression and you gave a whole lot of good point.
