The only thing we are safe from right now in my country is natural environmental hazards. Still, it's so tricky living here at this time as a country with terrible leadership skills will suffer a significant loss and that is unfortunately what we are having to deal with now. I had to travel this past week and it was a terrible experience, the bus driver refused to accept transfer even when everyone is aware that we are going through a severe cash scarcity in the country right now, so that meant only one thing, I had to buy money. Oh, just in case you haven't heard of that, in Nigeria right now, if you need cash, then you have to buy cash with some extra cash, and as crazy as that sounds, that's the way we have been living for some time now.

There is also a case of severe fuel scarcity right now, some of us are fortunate enough to live in regions with good electricity, at least to a reasonable extent, but a lot of other beautiful Nigerians, still need to deal with the absence of electricity with all that is currently happening. The place I traveled to was a good example of that, there was no light, no good network, absence of cash, it was so terrible. This is just to briefly explain my absence for the past couple of days, so let's get straight to the topic at hand without telling you more about the terrible reality of my country.
I could write a whole motivational content for my Nigerian brothers/sisters right now because I feel we really do need it but I just want to say, this too shall pass and of course, the season of election is drawing closer every day, so we just need to vote wisely. That being said, I would like to share some ways we can effectively handle our mental health during this difficult financial period.
Prioritize the things you can control: I would like you to bear in mind that, you do not have the ability to control all the causes of your financial stress, some things are beyond what you can conveniently control, and dwelling on these things would get you very stressed and frustrated, and to make matters worse, you will still be unable to change a thing about it. Instead of worrying about those things you cannot control, focus on those things you can do to rather make your own situation better.
Look for ways to earn more: At a time like this when everything is only getting more expensive, there is only little that can be done in regards to budgeting, even budgeting too hard could create some type of extra stress to us, so what we can do to improve our finance would be too;
- Work for some extra hours.
- You could take on some little extra side hustle.
- Speak to your boss about getting a raise.
To everyone living in and probably out of Nigeria right now, who is facing a difficult period, I just sincerely want you to know that this phase will really pass, may we make it out of this horrible situation even stronger.
