So much for taking it easy this Christmas.
I really should have known myself better, but truly, I just can't help myself, I love to give my friends and fam things! Especially at Christmas time.
Take the purple pretzels for instance. Tomorrow night is Thursday game night at our dear friend's place, and I have been all in a flurry today baking cracker candy, cake truffles, and other confectionary delights, but there was one treat that I whipped up that brought me extra special joy.
The purple pretzels!
The reasons for that elation are numerous. One, purple is my favorite color! It's also the favorite color of one of my game bros, a pal we affectionately refer to as Sorcerer Supreme. The guy has the sense of humor of a self-depreciating master comic and almost always plays a magic wielder in our Rpg campaigns. He's also a dice goblin of the highest order.
So of course I got him some mystery dice for Christmas. I also found out he liked chocolate dipped pretzels. So I went a step further and made purple pretzels.
Since I have such an affinity for the color, it was no chore at all adding purple gel coloring to melted white almond bark and hand dipping about a jillion pretzels. It was actually very satisfying work!
There's just been a lot of work, as usual. But it's pretty fun work so you won't hear me complaining.
And right in the middle of it all, during our crazy shopping, rifle team practice, snowstorm of a day yesterday, our boy's competition shotgun came in!
I worked very hard all summer baking all manner of pastries at the theme park in order to purchase the beast. It's an SKB combo, which means it has both a skeet barrel and a trap barrel. It is the most gorgeous firearm I have seen, but I might be bias. It also weighs a ton and came in royal blue velvet sleeving.
It also made a very tired offspring of mine very joyful.
He was more than a bit out of it this morning as he was supposed to be off work by ten o'clock last night, but everyone bailed out of work so he and his manager didn't get out of the restaurant he works at until 4:30 this morning! Apparently they thugged it out, and got it all done, even redoing some of the work their earlier shift in the day coworkers were supposed to have done.
I don't miss working in retail or food service. Nope, nope, nope.
Honestly, my hound dog is channeling my soon to be chilling energy quite nicely at the moment. Lani-girl is currently stretched out behind me, frequently emitting sighs and occasional grumbles and yowls. It's actually rather cute, she's probably mimicking her owner, as I have been making all manner of noise today.
But alas, in order to achieve my German Shepherd, Red Heeler, Redbone hound cross pure bliss and lazy status, I better get up off my flintlocks and go finish the batch of cake truffles yet to be mixed up, formed, and dipped.
Because you see, tomorrow I need to mail things to family members. I can actually see the Christmas cheer spreading finish line my friends, it is so close!
Cozy jammies, tea, and a nap here I come!!!

I've read the book, twice I think, it is excellent. Hope the game night went well, it sure had plenty of snacks!
I've read it too, it's such a great book, and I was tickled to see it on my required reading list first my trauma informed therapy class this coming semester. Game nights are always delightful, in fact, I'm heading to one now😊

Sometimes we need to take a hint from the pets and just sprawl out for an hour or two.
