It's amazing how the days can elapse between posting. It's not intentional, I am just a bit buried in school work right now, and honestly at the end of most school days the last thing I want to do is sit down, look at the screen, and type more.
Although, I do miss my posts, and my goal has always been to post every other day or so, but with many of my days having 7-9 hours of school work straight to do, Valkyrie training to complete, and you know, taking care of my family and farm, well, a lot of the time I am kaput at night.
However, exceptions must be made for snowshoeing. Winter got off to a late start here in North Idaho, but it has been making up for lost time the last few weeks, and I have been getting in a few snowshoeing forays here and there.
Yesterday, was one of those days. After taking three huge lab tests identifying individual bones and tendons in skeletal system, doing three case studies in human development, and delving into the specifics of leading a DBT skills training group, I was ready to bolt like a corgi after a tossed dental treat!
So, I did the only logical thing, I got out my snow shoes and poles, put on an absurd amount of clothing, and hollered at the girls, Let's go!
And go we did. I am blessed to have my own sizable tract of land, land that is also adjacent to an even larger tract of state land, so whenever I feel like a bit of a wilderness hike (or something close to it), I just have to hit my backyard. The last three days have been below zero at night, but the days have been of the crisp and frigid variety. And sunny. I love the sun after it snows. All the powder glistens and the swish swish sound of the snowshoes through that powder brings me smiles.
Plus, the Corg and the hound are totally amused by my slowness and take every opportunity possible to come derpily running back to check on me. The corg usually rolls enthusiastically in front of me, as if to encourage my steps, and the hound, she comes running up and thrusts her rather large proboscis into the snow like a plow. I personally am grateful for their care and attention.
Even with the sun, it was cold enough that I only snowshoed a little under two miles. Since I had done an entire boxing workout that morning, I didn't need to meet any fitness goal with my snowshoeing activity, the whole thing was done for pure enjoyment.
Okay, and I really needed to move a bit after being in my office chair for so long. Details schmeetails.
In the end, I am thankful for that frolic and floof escape, a short while later I got some news from my doctor that harshed my mellow a bit. After all my hard work and getting my carcass all healed up from all the autoimmune dysfunction last year, it appears my body is trying to kill me. Again. Sigh.
Strangely enough, now there is a pattern that can be seen, and it looks like I very well might have to make some very big decisions about the direction and location of my life in the near future.
Life's always a coming at ya!

I'm glad you got some time outside with the pups. Sorry about the news though...
Wishing you wisdom to make the best decisions.
It pays having four legs because you don't need snowshoes even if your feet are little.
Yep, 4-wheel drive definitely comes in handy 😆
