Wild Bergamot On My Thoughts

in LeoFinance7 days ago

Okay, aside from Monarda, AKA Bee Balm, AKA Wild Bergamot, I have had a ton of other stuff on my mind too. That's just a normal day for me.

Recovery is progressing around here. The hubs and I are just beyond wiped out. He is at a negative energy level, a deficit to be exact, and me, well, I didn't get to be sick while I was sick during all the past week's chaos. So, I am dragging a bit.

But a person can't drag their er, tote too much when they are adults. Even though I am still stuffed and snotty, I still got five hours of class work out of the way today, got my car all cleaned out, said goodbye to my car as it was hauled away today at the behest of my insurance company, did a bunch of chores, baked a cake for the hub's rifle team captain's birthday, and just put a batch of sugar-free, grain-free cookies into the oven. Because I wanted some dang cookies. And with my appetite being basically non-existent, I figured if I wanted some cookies I might as well whip some up. I mean, I already had the oven on...

But now, now I am wiped out. I need to do a bit of cleaning, but I think I will do that tomorrow after class after I frost the cake. One thing that I am going to do still today is make a French press full of Wild Bergamot infusion.

I can't believe it took me this long to remember that I dried a TON of wild bergamot! I'll blame that memory lapse on being sick and dealing with a ton of issues. Wild Bergamot, properly known as Monarda Fistulosa, is an incredibly useful herb for all manner of ailments, namely for combatting cold and flu symptoms and it is a mild-anti-inflammatory. Derp Kat.

Also, I just love the smell, and as I collected a jar from the pantry I may or may not have stood at my kitchen counter huffing the dried leaves just a bit...

Anyway, the hubs and I will be partaking in a delightful infusion of the stuff right before bed. I'm hoping beyond the lovely mint-like taste that the compounds within the plant will help aid our recovery. I've got a new vehicle to buy, tax season is nigh, and I've got an entire trip to Las Vegas in March for a shotgun competition to organize. You know, on top of everything else like farmin' and schoolin'

But don't worry, I am not pushing myself too hard. If I get to feeling too gross, I go sit for a spell by the fire and just veg. And school, aside from it not being the most fun when one is congested and in possession of a sinus congestion head state, is still pretty dang awesome. As it is not my first semester, I have a bit of muscle memory to draw from, so I am fairly organized and on task.

I just wish I felt a bit better while I completed said tasks.

Alas, so it shall be! Or something. Hmm.

I'm gonna go have a cookie now.
