Over 63,000 active validators participate in an Ethereum 2.0 test network called Medalla. In total, they have provided nearly 2 million test ETHs for authorization, according to a beaconcha.in-block browser. All of this indicates a significant interest among community members in the upcoming upgrade.

Ethereum 2.0 promises a dramatic increase in throughput at the Blockchain - from the current 14 transactions per second to more than 100,000. Existing restrictions have caused a sharp rise in commissions over the past months. At times users had to pay $10 or more for processing transactions.

The update has been prepared for more than four years. One of the main differences between Ethereum 2.0 and the network used today will be the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. According to developers' estimates, the update can be launched in November this year. At the same time, its full deployment is expected only by 2022.

"Zero Phase is a test phase with real incentives before the launch of Eth2," wrote Afri Shadon today.

According to the developer of Prysmatic Labs Raoul Jordan, the development of the functionality of Ethereum 2.0 should be completed by October 15. "At this stage, we will make every effort to prepare good documentation, good user experience, patch up security holes and, in fact, prepare for launch," he said.
