Childhood Memories Before And After Comparison

Life as a child was very memorable. In fact I wish you could go back to those days. Then life was so fun. Everything comes easy, you don't have to worry about what to eat, what you only worry about is doing the dishes when it is your turn, once you're done you're off to play. Uncles wiIl buy us sweets and biscuits. Whenever mom comes back from the market, we are sure to have something to chew. Some of these memories includes early days at school and steps to teenage age.

My early days in a daycare center was very fun. In the morning Before leaving the house, we carry our slates made of ply-wood and a piece of chalk. We are good-to-go. By 8am It's time for morning devotion. Little drummers are ready with their drumsticks to light up the parade. Then we march to the rhythm of the sound to our class.

Morning speech follows. A pupil would be asked to give a speech on a topic that was studied previously. Imagine you were not prepared and unfortunately the lot fell on you . You will sweat even in your tongue. As a prelude to the main business of the day, poems will be recited and at times multiples of numbers like 2,3,4 and 5 will also be read.
But a lot has changed, a lot of treats are given to children of today before they go to school. Many are given money before they step an inch. Most kids are not book smart but they can sign any hip-pop or afrobeat songs, they can play video games every day without remembering where their school bag is. Try to ask them what they learnt in class and see how embarrassed you will be. They will tell you how non-challant the teacher is and how they lost interest in the class.
But then we had only one teacher, but it's very surprising how she carries everyone along. She was very caring, considerate but firm when it comes to discipline. She was loved by all and the effort she makes to come down to the level of every pupil in the class to help them understand what she is teaching is so commendable, we all enjoyed her class. We had fun, we played and sang rhymes together, it was a memorable one.

Teenage Life

Life was more of nucleated than digital or private life we see today. All of us cannot wait to hear the school bell ring for dismissal. Our friends attends different schools but we usually dismisses almost at the same time. We would hire or buy a ball to play. At times it would be between streets or combined. This game is played just for fun and nothing at stake.

But nowadays such games are played with a fixed amount of money. The players contributes the money and choose whoever they dim fit for the game. This kind of football game is played with bitterness and rancor. The opponents does not care how rough the exercise is because no one would want to lose.

Growing up, kids could still listen to their parents and happily accept rules and discipline from them. They includes curfews and some restrictions too. You dare not talk back at your elders not talk to your parents. Any child who does that is viewed as a notorious person or one who lacks home training. All these are possible because parents live up to the rules the make and not otherwise. But on the contrary today, parents lives in morbid fear of their kids. At times the parents are morally bankrupt and lack the locus standi to make rules not to talk disciplining a child. This is so sad.
Looking back on my childhood memories, I feel like I received the best parental training and morals which I would like to inculcate in my children.
