Over the past 12 months, there has been a 17.8% increase in the number of bitcoin ATMs installed globally, totaling 38,279, which is getting closer to the record of 39,541 set in December 2022.
The number of new crypto ATMs installed as of now 2024 have been 2,564, showing a positive trend compared to the net loss of 2,862 ATMs in the year 2023, according to Coin ATM Radar.
Between July 2023 and May 2024, the total grew each month.
The number of installations decreased by 115 in May and June, but increased by 377 in June, a remarkable comeback.
The top three operators of bitcoin ATMs are Bitcoin Depot, Coinflip, and Athena Bitcoin, with 7,543, 5,057, and 2,756 machines, respectively.
By far, Bitcoin is the most popular crypto transacted with, while Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin also feature notably.
United States comes first globally in number of crypto ATMs with more than 82% while Canada comes second with 7.7%.
An increase has been seen in Australia in installation of crypto ATMs, surging nearly 17-fold 1,107 machines over the last two years.
At the current rate of installation, Australia is in a better position to surpass Europe's 1,584 ATMs.
Significant installations of bitcoin ATMs can be found in other countries, such as Germany (177), Spain (313), Poland (279), El Salvador (215), Poland (211), and Hong Kong (169).
The other countries with more than 100 crypto ATMs are Georgia, Romania, Austria, Switzerland and New Zealand.
Of the 193 nations recognized by the UN, 72 have cryptocurrency Automated Tellers (ATMs).
