This post is my response to @ahmadmanga's tweet regarding his concerns on @acidyo's tweet.
Finally, having a backup plan is always good.
STEEM was attacked and the community moved to HIVE, what if something similar happened to HIVE? What if HIVE price never reached an amount that's worth my time.
Some people might lose everything is they put everything on one basket.
Thanks @cpol for tagging me, I am posting it on Hive so I can save this on an immutable blockchain ledger forever and later post it on X(twitter) for higher visibility
First, I'd like to commend @ahmadmanga for your healthy skepticism and willingness to raise pertinent questions. The future of protocol like Hive is shaped by users like you who are constantly pushing boundaries and demanding more.
"Finally, having a backup plan is always good."
Absolutely. Preparing for uncertainties is a wise move in the volatile world of blockchain and digital assets. However, when you mention a backup, ideally it should be a platform that either matches or surpasses Hive in terms of decentralization and community engagement. It’s challenging to identify a platform that competes with Hive on these fronts. Personally, I view Hive as a resilient 'zombie'; it might face obstacles, but it always rises back, stronger than ever.
Hive isn't just a platform; it's a testament to the power of community-driven development. It reminds me of my initial days on the platform. Although I sometimes felt overwhelmed by its intricacies, it was an experience akin to learning a new language. Just like diving into any other social platform for the first time, there's a learning curve, but once surmounted, the opportunities and rewards are endless.
"STEEM was attacked and the community moved to HIVE, what if something similar happened to HIVE?"
While the transition from STEEM to Hive was tumultuous, it was also a pivotal moment of learning. The Hive community emerged more informed, unified, and proactive. Key measures, like the newly Hive powered up has a 30-day cooldown for governance voting, were introduced to prevent sudden malicious takeovers. The transition phase, in fact, was a testament to Hive's growth and adaptability. As cited in the Hive whitepaper, the primary aim has always been to cultivate a resilient, decentralized community, and the migration from STEEM showcased that objective in action.
"What if HIVE price never reached an amount that's worth my time."
Price is an important consideration for many, but it's also a testament to the market's volatility. True decentralization, as offered by Hive, will find its value over time. It's not a question of "if", but "when". Hive's commitment to growth and community-driven initiatives, as laid out in the whitepaper, provides a robust framework for future development. The key is perseverance and active participation.
"Some people might lose everything if they put everything in one basket."
It's prudent not to place all one's eggs in a single basket. Diversification is a golden rule in investments. However, it's also essential to identify which baskets are robust and which might have holes. While no platform can guarantee absolute security, Hive’s decentralized nature significantly diminishes the typical vulnerabilities seen in centralized systems. As you rightly pointed out, centralized platforms have their set of challenges. Their centralized nature makes them susceptible to external pressures, regulatory or otherwise.
In conclusion, Hive isn’t just another blockchain platform; it's a movement. A movement propelled by passionate individuals and a commitment to decentralization. For those familiar with its history and growth, Hive’s resilience is evident. For newcomers and skeptics alike, it offers a realm of possibilities worth exploring. While it's always prudent to remain cautious and diversified, Hive stands out as a beacon of potential in the vast sea of blockchain platforms. Dive in, participate, and contribute. The future of Hive is not just in its code or its governance; it's in its users. And with users like you, @ahmadmanga, the future is promising.
Hope this helps :)
P.S.
As far as I know, we are very familiar with Hive already however this post will be shared on Twitter as a long tweet so I may sound as a broken record promoting Hive to be a solution in a real-world problem.

There are no guarantees. We all must make our own informed decisions. Diversifying is prudent. Investing time and resources where our own research and due diligence leads us is each of our indivudual decisions to make. There is no one forcing us to be here or anywhere else for that matter.
