Life as an Ocra .......

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Hello and welcome to all the readers.

In the month of December, i won the Special Orca Month HivePUD award.
Life has not been the same.

Before i share the journey with you, i would like to thank @blocktrades, @theycallmedan, @hivebuzz, @traciyork, @victoriabsb,
@arcange, @eddiespino and everyone involved in @hivePUD, including all the sponsors of lovely prizes.

I would say that been an Ocra is hard and it comes with it challenges.

Before winning the delegation, most of my curation was generated by following curation trails.

To abide with the rules, i first went into hive.vote and changed the Upvote Mana threshold from 70% to 90%. Reduced the curation trails percentage from 50% to 10%.
Then went through the fanbase, and reduced all the upvoting percentages.

After that, i asked few of the fellow hivers on how they do manual curation.
I got few suggestions, but the suggestion made my achim (@achim03) helped me start the manual curation journey.
Achim has been doing manual curation for @ctpsb, @liotes and other projects.

Now my main intention was to spread as many votes i can, earn curation in that process but also help others.

So, i started looking at introductory post from newcomers. Not everyone is good in english and can write a good introductory post.
I started reading most of the posts and upvoted them.
(i used @ecency [desktop version] and @peadkd [peakd.com] to find and upvote the posts)

I did ignore posts that had been re-posted again with different community tags.

I agree not all the posts were of good quality or well written.
But having the capacity and power to upvote those posts made me feel good. First set of upvotes on your first post are always special.

I also upvoted posts that were not written in english.

Yes, there were some newcomers abusing the introductory tags and posting again and again. As i read most of the posts, I just ignored them.

Once i finish distributing upvotes to introductory posts. I look for posts in the CTP, leofinance, Alive and Proofofbrain community
I also upvoted manually posts on risingstar and splinterlands.

I have been doing manual curation twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.

So far, i have not given even a single 100% vote. Giving 10 votes of 10% to 10 people is more satisfying then 1 100% vote.
But i have given bigger votes to some of the posts.

One good thing i cultivated from this exercise is been more active and writing comments on other's posts.

I still have few more days left in my OCRA journey. I will try my best to make the most of it for me and others.

Manual curation is bit time consuming, but i would love to do it again.

Thank you again to @blocktrades for the delegation and everyone involved with #HIvePUD

Thank you for reading my post.

Have a nice day.

Big stake means big responsibilities :-). Manual curation is quite tricky and it can be really time consuming. I hope this month will help you to grow your own stake in the long run. And for the future... you now already know how to vote with a big stake :-)

Yes, this month has really helped me grow my stake.
Thanks for your guidance

Great to hear you enjoyed your Orca journey and that you really took it seriously. It's hard work but very rewarding to see that you can make a difference to people.

Hello dear friend @imfarhad good afternoon
Congratulations on this award, it is good that you have distributed the votes to several people
I really appreciate that you have let us know about this experience
I wish you a beautiful afternoon

Congratulations, I curate completely manually, no curation trails for me, I just vote what I like in certain communities! It gives me a curation profitability of between 7 and 8 %, but I am happy with that

Fantastic to read about your journey with manual curation using an ORCA level stake Farhad, and enjoy the last few days of it and stay awesome.

Make the most of your last orca days ... until you become one for real. 😅

Manual curation is time-consuming but it's really worth it, as you explain very well in your post.

Now my main intention was to spread as many votes i can, earn curation in that process but also help others.

This is a great way for me to do it. I am convinced that we all have an interest in growing together and that it is by sharing with as many people as possible that we will achieve this.

I wish you a Happy New Year ✨🥂✨

thank you. Wish you too a happy new year.

Thank you!

BTW, I noticed I miss your witness vote 😢
Would you mind casting one to me? It would be much appreciated!

I have casted my vote to you :-)

Thank you for your support @imfarhad, much appreciated! 👍

Like uncle Ben would say

With great power comes great responsibility.

Congratulations and well done to you mate

It is a struggle to balance manual curation, commenting as well as trying to also produce quality content!

This is why I prefer manual curating.

What can I say you've done a great job.

Fantastic to see that you learned more about manual curation Farhad, and that you used it wisely as well, now you know how to handle it once you actually become an ORCA, I presume you have that as one of your Hive Goals now, enjoy your day and stay !ALIVE

Exactly what the prizes were for, nice to see you enjoying being an orca!

Manual curation can be really time consuming and can sound boring, but if you like to read, it can be fun.
I remember when I used to read through all the post to make as many comments as possible to be eligible for big votes from AMR during his initiative in the start of last year.

Enjoy the Ocra status and keep spreading the joy,
Happy new year to you 👍

Thank you for this update. When I saw you winning this special prize I thought uhhh for sure no easy challenge and was wondering how you will feel with it.
Growing step by step and increase knowledge ans handeling each time seems easier than just jumping into the cold water.
I never looked at hive.vote have to do next time.
All the best for the New Year ☺
