As you already know the stock market piqued my interest about a year back all thanks to guys like @Untilwelearn, @steemflow, @blogbeginner and a few of the market bhais. I am not going to call them gurus, in fact, I am going to restrict myself from the usage of the term guru. Not calling anyone guru, unless they really have outdone themselves in the field they are in. The Internet has made everyone a guru and now I think the term is losing its value. Financial guru, Fitness guru, dating guru, alpha guru, sigma and all the other Greek alphabet guru. Nope, not doing it. So not calling anyone a guru. And I know they don't mind. Because Nobody is a guru when it comes to the stock market. Yes, people know stuff, but they don't know everything. And I am the kind of guy who wants to learn as much as possible.
The stock market is just like the game of cricket, and like cricket there are different formats to play in the Stock Market. Of course, the goal is to win the game with as big a margin as possible.
There is like an Intraday, which is more or less like a T20 game, fast-paced. You want to finish the game within 20 over a period and every minute is a game changer. You have to be quick but patient too. I cannot comment on this as this is not my style and I decided that I am not going to enter into an intraday style. You have to book profit or loss by the end of the day or the system will do it for you. Very risky and can be rewarding, but I am yet to meet a person who can proudly say yes, I am a profitable intraday trader. I have seen the interviews of people claiming to be profitable intraday traders but as you know you cannot trust the Internet 100%. I mean you have to be crazy skilled to be able to calculate the movement of the price in the directions.
The second one is Swing Trading, If it were to be compared we can call this an ODI (One Day International format) game. A 50-over match requires specific strategies depending on where and whom you are playing against. I am very attracted to this style of trading where you enter and exit based on the calculation called the Technical analysis and reap the reward in days to months. This way of trading is a kind of middle ground between Short and long-period games. What I like about this I know people who are profitable traders in the format and they are confident too in their earning strategies. What surprises me is that each follows different strategies and gets the result as per their liking. When asked about their methods, Most of them replied with one answer, It is not a standard strategy but something that they learned and modified as per their requirement over a period. And it makes sense. If there was a formula that worked all the time no one would be at a loss and that means the Market wouldn't function.
And finally, the Test Match format of the stock market is the format an investor chooses, where they are playing the long game and putting the money in companies for years to come and rewards can be absurd at times. The aim here is to put money is profitable companies and grow with them. And profit from the stock appreciation, dividends, bonuses and other actions. This one requires a set of strategies too. You can't simply dump your money on some stock hoping that it would be double in 5years or so. It requires the investigation of the companies, from the background to the products to the reviewing their board meeting, checking their balance sheet and doing a lot of research. The study is called fundamental analysis. And this is more like my game.
