Today I am going to talk about a Hive token platform, Build-It, that has escaped the attention of many Hiveans for one reason or another.
What is Build-it?
In simple terms it is a platform for DIY enthusiasts. Such a simple definition masks the enormous potential of this platform. Most of us are given to assume that DIY is a something that has limited scope in terms of doing and fixing things at home. Read on to know that it goes beyond that.
Before I go further, allow me to highlight how the build-io platform defines it:
Build-it is a free speech social sharing where people can come to learn, share, and earn for sharing their experiences of doing, building, and fixing things on their own. This includes guides to; roofing, carpentry, woodwork, brickwork/stonework, crocheting, recycling, drawing/painting, gardening, tiling and much more! Literally, if you want to improve your DIY skills, this is the best community to start with.
Learn, share, and earn for sharing your experiences of doing, building, and fixing things on your own
Unless we are a bed-ridden, we are always doing, building or fixing something on our own throughout our life from the day curiosity sets in us. We learn how to repair things, cook, drive, code, speak in public, play music, sing, write poetry, songs, reports, make presentations, draw, paint, do gardening, brickworks, crocheting, handle difficult customers, promote a product or service and many more. I could have gone on for pages describing the things that we learn to do on our own.
Before we do anything on our own, we normally seek help from other people or sources on how to achieve the given task. The sources could be our parents, friends, teachers, books, instructional materials online and so on. Now, Build-it.io can turn out to be that source, where you share your knowledge of doing something and someone else can learn from you.
Let me give you some examples to illustrate the points raised above:
If you are customer relationship officer you could write posts on how you handled difficult customers daily.
If you are a financial advisor, you could give tips on how to manage one's finances.
If you are a chef or enjoy cooking, you could write posts on how to cook a particular dish with variations in ingredients or steps to show off your culinary skills.
If you are a coder, you could write posts on short cuts in coding or how you solve a particular coding problem or how to troubleshoot a coding issue.
If you are a gardener, you can show off your gardening skills in your posts for others to learn from you.
If you are a car mechanic, your tips on maintenance of a particular make of car, or what to do when faced with an issue with the car would be tremendous help to others.
If you are a share trader, your tips on how to trade would have immediate and appreciative audience.
If you are musician or enjoy playing a musical instrument you could …..
If you are a 3d print enthusiast, you could …..
If you are a singer, you could ……
If you are a carpenter, you could ……
If you are an engineer, you could …..
If you are a doctor, you could …..
If you are a nurse, you could ……
If you are a public speaker, you could …….
If you are a psychologist, you could ……..
If you are an artist, you could ….
If you are……
Do you get the drift? Do you now see the potential of this platform?
Some of the above examples cover fixing matters which are not physical in nature, such as troubleshooting a software issue or simply addressing a psychological issue.
Many of you are already posting such content on Hive across the many Hive communities, including in Leofinance, but fail to use the tag #diy, and thereby forego the opportunity to earn the BUIDL token. Now that you know, make sure you use the tag #diy whenever you post any diy content.
Pre, post and related DIY Activities
Before carrying out a DIY activities you may have to do some preparatory work to achieve your goals.
For example, you may have to buy the tools or the parts to carry out some repairs. You may then have to visit a local DIY store or order online. Even your trip to the DIY store or your experience at the store scouting for the tools and parts could be used as subject of your DIY article.
Assuming you faced difficulties in obtaining the parts you are looking for then your experience of a stranger helping you to source for the parts could be the subject of your article. This would be 'related DIY activity', which would be a legitimate DIY post.
You may want to post a series of articles journaling the progress of a particular experiment you undertook in your garden, like experimenting ways of getting rid of garden snails or other pests.
You may post an article to review the results of your DIY activities. You could review a product you bought on Amazon to repair something in your home. This would be 'related DIY activity', which would be a legitimate DIY post.
What about the discovery of a new material that could solve an age old DIY problem or make your DIY job easy? Writing about it would be a legitimate DIY related post.
Even just simply showcasing your DIY creation could arguably be termed a post related DIY, although some people might take objection to this.
The Icing On The Cake
When it comes to the use of images in posts, most of us rely on free images or paid stock images to avoid being caught in a copyright infringement suit.
In Build-It platform most authors, if not all, would not have to rely on free images or stock images. All they have to do is take pictures of what they are doing and use them as images for their posts.
This, in turn, would make the platform relatively free of copyright infringements and would also ease the burden on the authors as they don’t have to spend time scouring the web looking for suitable images.
Conclusion
