I have to agree with your conclusions, DAOs definitely are the future but we need to get them off of Discord first and make them truly decentralized.
Most of the big ones I'm following are a one-man show and even if the community wanted to truly change something regarding the protocols they would need to convince the developers to push the code, which isn't really a decentralized way to make decisions and do things collectively.
They need to move communication over to Hive before they can continue their evolution.

Well that is still a lot that needs to be done with crypto decentralization. The communication system is still Discord and Telegram.
Of course, we have centralized websites too.
