The entrance fees to play Axie Infinity are insane. No wonder someone came up with the scholarship model for the Axie Infinity players. And I thought USD 10 was a lot for Splinterlands.

Yea and it seems like the Scholarship model also works quite well to have other people work for you. Of course it's not as profitable but you can have multiple people doing the work for you.

That's true. I almost decided to start a scholarship myself, but I decided to invest my resources elsewhere... I prefer to stick to the Hive blockchain as best as I can

I think that is a good choice. I don't think Axie can expand much given the ETH fees.

I heard they are working on a new game with a much lower entrance fee. I'm probably won't play it if it's on Ethereum but it could be a good investment.

Some games which began on Ethereum moved to other blockchain networks (including Polygon (MATIC)). Some blockchains came into existence specifically as platforms for games.

Ethereum may still be home to highly popular games, but for how long will that remain true?

I think it will start to lose some of that popularity unless it deals with the fee thing

The switch from PoW to PoS was supposed to alleviate those problems for Ethereum. I don't know how much of an impact that change had in fact.

If I remember well, it's a slow movement so the transition won't be fully completed until mid-2022 or something like that. We'll see how effective it was then

Oh, OK. Yeah, we won't know for a while.
