Its fairly common. I am pretty sure you have heard of pump and dumps in the market. Its basically a bunch of people either trading with each other to inflate prices or someone who loaded up on a ton of HIVE and buying a lot to elevate prices. When they do the FOMO kicks in and they try to sell for more than they paid.

Yeah that is why dollar cost average over time is better than short selling the market.
Short selling the market is a dangerous deal. You can lose more than 100%. I avoid short selling until I have a good proper stop-lost set and I would have to get out whenever a warning appears.

There is no certainty when you are short, the path is uncertain and as its name "short" now going long the profit has no limits, if you don't believe me ask who went long when BTC was at 10K
