So do you envision a more automated world where we just send avatars to do the jobs for us? It seems like a weird concept to wrap your head around since I was thinking it would be a more immersive virtual experience.

There certainly will be both.
As for the AI driven avatars, just thing of trading programs. They operate without human interaction. Also consider bots and how they simply operate throughout the day.
We will have things that are done by humans and others done by machines. With cryptocurrency we will have the ability to profit from each.
