Annette Echikunwoke was set to represent Nigeria at the 2020 Olympics but was disqualified along with nine other athletes after failing to undergo mandatory tests due to an error by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

She then changed her allegiance to the United States to compete at Paris 2024.

Now, she can call herself an Olympic medalist after winning silver in the women's hammer throw 🥈 @justfavour @iskafan @olujay @deraaa

Omoh this is sooo sad!!!!

This is so sad.

Why do think athletes change allegiance to other countries? I know of footballers, boxers, and tennis players who switched from Nigeria to other countries and got better opportunities.

I know of a lot of them that have left to pursue their dreams outside of here and it worked out for them.

This country is a killer of dreams fr.💔

The land( Nigeria) is a giant whale
that swallows the sinker,
with hook, line and bait
aborting dreams of a good catch- Gbemisola Adeoti

Ohhh....I remember reading that poem in secondary school. It struck me so deep because of how true it was. A sabre toothed tiger indeed.

You know ball, Jhymi.

Nigeria will not happen to us in Jesus name, na serious prayer be that
You don't even know your potentials or the great things you're capable of doing until you have access to the other countries, and that's sad!

Dyyggggg, the country limits us so much. You would think you're a never do well and that you don't have a skill, not knowing that it's because you're in the wrong country.💔
