That would have been like Yankees trading Babe Ruth for a bag of sanitary stockings. That was a sad day not just for Mets fans but for New Yorkers of all kinds. If it makes Mets fans feel better, Seaver got no World Series w/ Reds in 1977.

Ain't that the truth @magnacarta So So True

It was actually not a bad trade on paper in terms of the return of prospects/young players. Of course, trading the Franchise was stupid but M. Donald Grant was a nightmare.

Seaver should have play his entire career with the Mets. With that said, I became a Doug Flynn fan lol @taskmaster4450le

I always like Zachary. He played second fiddle to the immortal Craig Swan.

He never lived up to his potential. Hendu wasnt bad for the Mets..solid player.

But nothing competes with the Franchise.

Kingman went also.

Odd how early the trade deadline use to be.

Happier note: 1983: The Mets traded Neil Allen and Rick Ownby for Keith Hernandez.

I have #mlb tonight on @taskmaster4450le and they did a piece on that Keith Hernandez trade. They were eluding to an MVP being traded and how a few former MVP's will be on the block this season #sports

Who were they saying? Donaldson will be one.

The ridiculous thought that the Angels would trade Ohtani. Others are McCutchen, Goldshmidt, Abreu were some of the guys on the short list @taskmaster4450le

Well Cutch is washed up, isnt he? Abreu I havent followed, where did he sign? Goldy was a stud last year, surprise be might be on the block.

Otani could go since the Angels arent going to re-sign him; dumb to trade for him though.
