The NHL needs more first-time champions. The droughts will continue for the NYR, NYI, NJD, PHI, MON, and TOR.

On the clock: Toronto Maple Leafs (1967). On deck: Philadelphia Flyers (1975).

Are any of those close enough? We’ll see.

TOR: 1967
PHI: 1975
NYI: 1983
MON: 1993
NYR: 1994
NJD: 2003

All other teams are either Cup winners since or still seeking their 1st Cup.

Go Rangers!

The Montreal Canadiens need to be sold to an owner who's like the second coming of George M. Steibrenner III. Or Don Cherry.

At least the Panthers winning gives some of those teams hope.

The Edmonton Oilers have their own drought (1990). The only dynastic-class team doing well with championships is the Detroit Red Wings. Bruins and Blackhawks have been winning, but they aren't dynastic-class.
