Update on the HIVE income portfolio.

in LeoFinance11 months ago

Wow, it was 6 months ago that I dropped a post about setting up a Hive Income Portfolio. Boy time flies, not sure where this year went.

Anyway, figured it would be time for an update on where this wallet is at and how things are going.

So, If you missed the original post and the one follow up post, the basic goal is to collect assets that pay a regular (daily or weekly) Hive income in a separate wallet (@jk6276.holdings) to build a long term, passive Hive income.

I'll go through the wallet, and look at each investment currently being held in there.

DAB

The Dab token is issued as a mining reward to holders of DBOND. It is a project, still in fairly early stages being run by @silverstackeruk and @raymondspeaks, founders of $SPI and $BRO respectively. Similar in design to another SSUK project called $EDS, the Dab token pays a daily Hive income to its holders. It can be staked in which case the yield is paid as more DBOND tokens instead of Hive.

Currently, my holdings wallet has around 244 DAB in it, and receives around 1.4 Hive, each day, making this currently my top earner.

The plan here is to keep accumulating DAB, and keep an eye out on when new ways to mint DAB are released and stay positioned to remain in the top 10 DAB holders long term.

Current value around $265 USD

SPI

Next on the list is SPI - the flagship token of the @spinvest eco-system. Not much to say here, it is a long term investment, and I wish I had more. Back in the day, I had lots, but the real world intervened and I gradually sold my stack, mostly to fiat to pay bills and keep a roof over the family's head during tough times.

Not sure I'll add much to this position, but I may try to pick up a few here and there if I can off the market, depending on price. Generally, I look at this token as the one that got away. I do still run a wallet on behalf of Spinvest, and am involved that way. However rebuilding a big stack will be a hard task.

Current Value roughly $200 USD

BXT

Position three in terms of value in this wallet is BXT, the token for the Beeswap platform. BXT has been a steady performer lately, and recent fee changes have meant that income has been better and reliability for the HIVE to SWAP.HIVE conversions has been good. BXT yield is currently around 20%, paid in liquid HIVE each day.

I have just bumped my wallet up to 400 staked, which brings in close to 0.3 Hive per day.

Long term goal is to slowly add to this position over time.

Current value around $180 USD

EDS

EDS is a long term project run by Spinvest, with regular updates from the @eddie-earner account. My position here is built on a stack of EDSMM miner tokens, that mint EDS regularly. In addition, I have HP delegated to @eds-vote and plan to be involved in the upcoming EDSD setup, launching soon.

Once I earn, mint or receive $EDS tokens, they get transferred to the holdings wallet to build the long term, passive income through weekly HIVE payouts.

Long term goal is lots and lots of EDS.

Current value approximately $135 USD

SIM

SIM also generates passive Hive income, based on a 30 day average of your SIM holdings (known as Sim Power). I was holding this in my main wallet, in the SIM/SWAP.HIVE LP. However, I decided to un=pool that, send the SIM over to the holdings wallet, and use the HIVE for other things (adding to the ZING pool mainly.

Still not a huge position yet, but will add over time to build it up.

Current value around $120 USD

LGN

The newest token in this wallet, LGN is from the Brofi group. I have just started dipping my toe into the legion, and note that these tokens are fairly liquid and not hard to buy on Tribaldex/Beeswap. I have seen that there are ways to earn (or mint) LGN through HP delegations, which I plan to look into more in time.

Will see how it goes before looking to build a position.

Current value roughly $35 USD

PWR

Last but not least is the $PWR token. I built this up in the LP, and then as I did with the SIM pool, un-pooled and moved the PWR over to holdings. The thing is that this does not generate any yield yet, so it may seem weird to hold it in a yield wallet. But it will, down the track. This is just my way of setting it aside for the future.

I'm minting some more PWR each day, via HP delegation, and plan to rebuild the LP position gradually, plus add to the stash in the holdings account over time. Once some kind of HIVE yield gets turned on, I think these tokens will hold their value better, and now while prices are down is a good time to accumulate.

Current value around $70 USD

So there it is, my current Hive passive income portfolio. My goal for 2024 is to keep building these positions, grow the income being generated, and keep an eye out for more opportunities.

The wallet is currently valued at just over $1K USD, and ideally I'd like to 10X that over the coming year. Yield currently is around 12 to 14 HIVE per week, with more than half of that coming from DAB. Goal is to build it up to 100 HIVE per week.

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my Hive passive income wallet, and the thinking behind what is in it. I'll try to post a bit more regularly to update what I am up to.

Thanks for reading, remember this is not financial advice at all.

Cheers and have a great new years.

JK.

I have been holding my BXT in the LP with SWAP.HIVE, getting me more BXT as reward. For 115 BXT paired with 167 SWAP.HIVE I get 0.125 BXT a day. Is that wise? I guess the rewards are similar to just staking BXT, like you're doing. Doing it that way it would free up some of my SWAP.HIVE for other things. But what do I do with the rewards? If they come in form of BXT I put it right back into the LP. If they come in form of HIVE, I guess I'd just collect it, or probably power up. So not quite sure which is better.

Either is good, depends on your goals. If I had more funds, I'd be doing both. Set up the LP, and then stake the BXT earned from the pool. But that wallet is set up for hive income flow, completely passive, so that is why I have just staked there.

Yields are not really significantly different, LP involves more risk, but the yield from staking could disappear also as the conversion feature could run out of liquidity and the fee income from HIVE/SWAP.HIVE conversions could drop.

Best of luck to you.

Great tokens to hold. My largest holding/earner is sim. I am working on some lp's myself.

Sim is a good one. I played the game and traded a fair bit when it first launched- had lots of fun. Drifted away but Dcity was good to me back in the day. For now the SIM is just a passive hold.

The LP's can be good earners, the Zing/Hive pool is printing high yields but a sell off in Zing could happen at any time.

Good to check in every six months 😁.
Hope everything is good and best wishes for 2024!

Had planned for it to be a monthly check in, but It didn't happen.

Will be joining in with the savers club for 2024 - going to set some goals there.

All is going ok here, hope you are going well Shani and have a fabulous 2024.

So cool!

Great update! I am steadily following a similar track, in more than one account, but I am sure not with your perseverance. I hope I will have the time to track this a little more closely in 2024! (<= What? A New Year's resolution? Nope ... 😉)

Haven't had the time to look into DAB, but ... Need to figure out some time to get that done ...

P.S. Nice GIF there!

Perseverance - kind of. I started this path, then needed to sell a bunch to keep the fiat situation ok. Rebuilding now, with the help of some improved bits and pieces around the Cosmos.

Am learning to take profits earlier, instead of riding them all the way up, and all the way down before selling.

Great to here from you as always, and hope you have a wonderful 2024.

"Am learning to take profits earlier, instead of riding them all the way up, and all the way down before selling"

Amen. I am trying to do the same thing and very quickly running into how difficult I personally find that. Essentially no difference from investing in TradFi - when to buy and set a "buy up to" price which you never exceed and when to sell ...

Piece of cake easy?! Well, I don't think so, but definitely a work in progress to try and get better at it.
