Hi everyone.
I had a privilege to see the modern aerial view of Intramuros, Manila. Often called as the “Walled City”.
Made during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines in the late 16th Century, the seat of Spanish Government and was considered as religious and educational center of Spanish era. Original campuses of University of Santo Tomas, oldest university in Asia, and Ateneo de Manila University. Strategically an economic center, hub of the Manila Galleon Trade - carrying goods to and from Acapulco (Mexico).
Used by the American Forces during Commonwealth Government.
Almost flattened in the Battle of Manila, the liberation from the Japanese Imperial Army occupation .
Today, the Walled City looks different and more modern!
Overlooking from Binondo ,Manila. Intramuros today is like a "Mini-Business District". Inside are schools, church, food hubs, private and public offices, parks , recreation, etc.
In today's world, change is everything.
But we must not forget our own history.
Every place around the globe has its own story, own historical significance.
Learn to appreciate and be grateful.
Old Intramuros has long gone, but the traces is still there.
