Enroll Now In The University of Self-Education

I'm fired up this week :)

It's nice to be home for a mid-summer vacation, and it's allowed me to write quite a bit on chain these past few days. A couple of days ago I talked about this little project I'm starting, and it has to do with reading 7 books at the same time.

This is the first time in my adult life (and book worm life) that I've read this many books at the same time. The max I've ever done has been 2 at once but actually.....

That's not entirely true!

Does anyone remember going to school? Or more specifically, post secondary school?

I don't know about you guys, but when I was a student I was reading about this many books at once too....

So this is just repeating what we've already been used to right?

Let me introduce you to 'The University of Self Education'.

It's a different kind of school....Mainly because you won't get a fancy diploma after you complete it's courses....

Well, I mean, you can always make your own :)

Jongo...PHd!

In all seriousness, this is a very powerful habit to get into if you are trying to master any niche or specific industry.

I've spoken about this before on chain, but it was on a success / personal development audio that I heard this quote that has stuck with me forever...

"If you spend an hour a day learning all about your passion, in a few years from now you'll have the equivalent of a PHd in that subject."

Now that's paraphrasing the quote and I'm pretty sure it was on a Brian Tracy seminar that I heard it. But the idea is sound. Spend your free time or find the time, to soak up as much information as you can about your chosen field or passion. Spend that time, investing it in your knowledge and bam....You become an expert in it, within a year or two.

Think about it...

What do we do with our spare time?

Most of us, scroll....Swipe right...Argue on social media...Watch useless Netflix shows...Pretty much spend our time on utter foolishness. And then we complain that others have more than us...

Here's the secret to developing an expertise in pretty much anything...Seek knowledge!

Spend the time, learning and growing. In my case, I have always called it the 'University of Self Education'.

I shared my plan a few days ago on the post I wrote, but it's pretty simple really...I chose 7 books (one for each day of the week) and those 7 books were based on my passion for theology. I'm surrounding myself with everything I can soak up about the subject. And then every day, I read an hour of that book for the pre-determined day.

The best part about this 'university' is there is no enrolment fees. Well, other than the price of the books you chose to read. But nowadays, pretty much everything you want to learn can be found online too.

It really comes down to commitment. Do you want to 'know' more about your passion or niche in a year from now? Do the work. Enroll into the 'university of self education'. There's no professors that will check your work here...And you do get to be taught by thought leaders and epxerts in their fields.

So it's a blessing for sure, but it does take commitment.

Like I mentioned the other day, I began my first semester this week. And I'm looking forward to seeing how much I will hav grown in a year from now...

Impressive. Funny how many things we did to get where we are that we have forgotten over time. Reading a lot of books at once sounded strange until you reminded us of the old days. Now I am fired up and need to get back on the grind and schedule my days in ways that I am increasing my knowledge base.

For sure. I would have never thought I could do this but I'm about 4 days into this now, and getting ready for book number 4 lol

Never stop learning and growing as a person. Investing in yourself is always worth it :)

Since you and task never launched your other course on success, maybe you will launch a Christian course 😅

ha ha ha ha I have no idea what I'm doing with this Jesus stuff. Literally just praying and praying and praying....I'll get it figured out in a decade or two.

I read many books in my secondary school times, I think reading many books makes someone master something very fast, self education is great, because doing things on our own is gaining perfection.

Yup, it's self education for motivated individuals. We put in the work, good things happen.

You are right @jongolson continue to have a good time 🥰🙏

It does add up and learning things might help down the line. I think it will pay off if you continue to put in that effort.

Hope so, I'm enjoying the journey!

I wish you the best and the fact that there is no form of fee to be paid makes so much sense
A lot of people will be eager to learn that way

Yup, I mean we can even go online and find most of this material too. So it's a win win!

Learning and investing in yourself has no limit and age mate

No limit at all!!

All the best on your learning journey. It all looks a lot until you have done it and want more.

It is important to educate yourself throughout your life.

I’m glad you’re doing this and I fully support you
I wish you the best of luck in this path
