Confession time....
As much as I say I've given up being an online business person, it's still in my blood. I love entrepreneurship. The thrill and inspiration you get from living your life on 'what will I build today' truly is unlike anything out there.
I did it for a long time too....Over 25 years of basically being my own boss and building a ton of online businesses. And along the way I had plenty of failures. Oh wow, numerous in fact. But the drive that entrepreneurs have within them is to pick themselves up and keep trying to build.
Throw things against the wall, and something will stick was how I lived my entrepreneurial life. For better or worse lol
Anywho, as I'm poking around Threads this week I came across some business talk. And obviously anytime people start talking business on $LEO my ears perk up.
Yeah, I'm not 'in the game' anymore but I'm always watching :)
The business talk started with my good friend @jimmy.adames and I sharing some memories of the good ol' days in online marketing. And something really stuck with me after all those years of building businesses....The community was always the most important thing!
People matter!
I think it's evident that I still keep in touch with many of the 'online marketing' folks from yester-year such as Jimmy and guys like @bradleyarrow and so many others because....We actually had a great community back in the day.
People STILL matter! Relationships matter!
And that's where I decided to spark some conversations of my own with a Thread where I put it out there...
"Business advice 101: When you make your community and customers feel valued, they will keep coming back. Treat people, like people...And not just a number."
Simple right?
You would be blown away at how many entrepreneurs forget that 'simple piece of advice'. In the digital age and this crazy world of AI we're in now, real relationships with real people matter.
If you ever want to start a business online please remember this as pretty much the most important marketing strategy you will ever hear....When you put people first, you will win. Every. Single. Day!
It's very easy to look at the numbers only. So easy to get caught up in charts and data without realizing that who is behind those numbers and piece of data represent real people. And they have real dreams, real goals and real passions. And if you remember that, instead of simply how many open rates you get on an email promotion, you again....Will win.
Let me rephrase this...
Putting people first isn't just a marketing strategy. It's really a life strategy as a whole. People will sniff out the snake oil salesmen a mile away, so it's important that you actually CARE, not just say you do...Do the little things for people that make them feel valued and if you do, genuinely do, they will be your customers and FRIENDS for life!

I love your business advice, Jongo. Focusing on community and treating people like people, not just numbers, is key. You're right, it's easy to get caught up in data, but real relationships are what truly matter. Your approach is refreshing and genuine.
I caught that!
"When you put people first, you will win"
Thanks for sharing
easiest way on the planet to win this game called life :)
Words that will forever be etched in stone no matter the era.
Agreed!!
In as much as customers are to be taken care of, we should never forget the aim of the business which is making money
Customers are the soul of the business and that’s why they have to be taken care of
Yup, for sure. Without them, you have no business.
I completely agree, relationships matter and taking care of them is #1...BUT! Many entrepreneurs having amazing products, take great care of people and forget the 2nd golden rule...you have to make money...i.e. be profitable. Otherwise, you don't have a business.
So true. I've ran a 'charity' before lol And it's no fun when you are for profit lol
You nailed it my friend :) Awesome fracking sauce.

crazy simple concept lol
I never had a business but I know as a customer that even online business needs to take care of customers.
In some point a customer will need to clarify something or asking an opinion and if you don't put the customer in first place you in some point will lose a customer.
I think you can even treat your profile on the blockchain like a business...And how? Upvoting comments, and responding to people. Shows them you value their time!
I agree. You should treat your customers well, and especially so when you are small/medium sized. I think that might change when your extremely large, but most of us probably won't get that far.
Exactly, and I think that's what also can separate larger companies too, treating their customers like actual people.
Sometimes I wish I would have my own business so that I wouldn't work under someone.
Start one on the chain :)
Already, HIVE is my part time jpb :)

STOP
Spot on ! This is why companies like Amazon, eBay and Google work so hard to make themselves the centre of every transaction. Not because they want a community themseles, but because they've identified that creating an air gap between the entrepreneur and the customer will stop a potential future competitor building a community and growing to become a threat.
