The Only 2 Things You Can Control

in LeoFinance2 days ago

I have a confession....

I still frequent X/Twitter a lot. And it's not because of 'Crypto Twitter', honestly that entire space bores me to death. Nah I'm usually on Twitter for news updates around the world and more importantly...Buffalo Bills news.

But every now and again, different pieces of content come across my plate and there was something that hit me today that I thought I should discuss on the ol' blog...

It went something like this (I forgot to take a screen shot to give credit for the post!!). The only two things you can control in life are:

1. Your Attitude

2. Your Effort

Bam!

This seems so simple to understand as advice but when you break it down, you'll discover how hard it is for most people to master. Let's dive into this...

First, especially in crypto, you hear LOTS of complaints about the markets. When it's green, everyone is an expert and happy. And when it's red, there's blood in the streets and people are losing their minds. Guess what buttercup?

You have absolutely ZERO influence on the markets. Maybe if you are Michael Saylor, but every day folks like yours truly, we have absolutely zero control of what the price of $BTC will be tomorrow.

Or wars and rumors of wars....

Guess what? If one country decides to bomb another....You again, won't be able to 'superman' the world to peace.

How about politics? You can vote!!!!! lol And we all know how that goes....

The point is, you can't make much a difference in the day to day affairs of this planet. However you can control YOUR world....With, you guessed it, attitude and effort.

So.....If the attitude is....Doom and gloom, a few things will happen. Mostly, people will steer clear away from you. Of course, they may follow you on social media because everyone loves a good train wreck. But overall, if you have a lousy attitude on life, you will project nothing that people will be attracted to.

However, if you embrace a good attitude, it becomes contagious. You will start to see things 'go your way' and I can't explain it other than go a wee bit biblical on this...

"As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he...." - Proverbs 23:7

Here is wisdom! The big message is, you can control your attitude. You can decide how to play the cards you are dealt, even if you can't decide what cards you are dealt. This is so powerful once we 'get it'.

And effort.....That's the next part of the formula.

And what's great about this little nugget, is the better your attitude is towards life in general....The effort will be there!

You can control your effort. You can decide to put in the work. You can decide to build habits. You can tell yourself daily, I will make an effort. That is something you are 100% in control of.

You can't control what other do. You can't control if someone had an unfair advantage. You have absolutely zero control on what your competition decides to create or build....But you can control your effort in response to anything that comes your way.

Again, such a powerful nugget once we 'get it'.

I know this sounds too simple to be of any value...Most people will ignore this post, chaulk it up as another Jongo 'feel good' post. And that's fine. However those that end up 'getting it' will have such a rewarding 2025. Give it a try....Control your attitude, control your effort and watch your life completely change overnight ;)

I think it's the best advice I read for the start of 2025. Thank you.😊

glad you found it of value!

😊😊 Yeah.. Thankful that I read it.😊

Your attitude is within you so you should learn how to control it. One thing I’m sure of is that we all must have had some attitudes we were able to control by doing away with them all

Indeed...It is within us!

Correct.

Not scripture this time but a bit of philosophy from Epictetus, he was a Roman slave who became a stoic philisopher. He was in the same city, Nicopolis, about 25 years after the Apostle Paul.

Epictetus wrote -

Some things are in our control and others not. Things in our control are opinion, pursuit, desire, aversion, and, in a word, whatever are our own actions. Things not in our control are body, property, reputation, command, and, in one word, whatever are not our own actions.

The things in our control are by nature free, unrestrained, unhindered; but those not in our control are weak, slavish, restrained, belonging to others. Remember, then, that if you suppose that things which are slavish by nature are also free, and that what belongs to others is your own, then you will be hindered. You will lament, you will be disturbed, and you will find fault both with gods and men. But if you suppose that only to be your own which is your own, and what belongs to others such as it really is, then no one will ever compel you or restrain you. Further, you will find fault with no one or accuse no one. You will do nothing against your will. No one will hurt you, you will have no enemies, and you not be harmed.

Essentially "attitude" and "effort" are the things under our control and nothing else.

Yeah man and I'll even go a step further...I think when we try to control things other than effort and attitude, that's when the world gets really bad.

This is very true. The only thing we can control is how we react to situations no matter how bad they are.

yup, play the cards you are dealt wisely!

And we shouldn't much think about the things which we can't control in life.

exactly, it'll just stress you out

Indeed... attitude and effort... I need to focus inward if I want things on the outside to change. Thank you!

Inspiring!

thanks for popping by sir!

I agree with this advice
