I have not been doing a lot of onboarding because it never works to show people how to "use it" instead of guiding them through the process. Individuals who typically use Facebook to view memes, humorous videos, or remark on gossip videos may perceive Hive as being much more similar to that. You do not just go through people's names on Hive to add them as friends.

You meet new people by consistently improving yourself, learning new things, and entering the network at a reasonable pace for the season. Although I may be mistaken, I sometimes think that those who are familiar with the workings of online social media are the ones who can best understand what a network like Hive should be like. The year before, I brought a friend on board, and he grasped the fundamentals exactly as I had.

I told him he would enjoy the environment and would help him comprehend Blockchain and cryptocurrency, which was something he had always desired, rather than telling him he was here to make money. He continued with a nice introduction, but he did not read the comments, visit the other communities as I had suggested, or spend any time getting to know the network. He didn't, though. Being a digital and social creator on web2, he was the epitome of the "online guy."

Because of his creative abilities, it seemed like Hive would be easy for him to handle, but he didn't. He gave it up with complete abandon. And why? He already has a web2 job to keep up with, so that is one thing; two, Hive was unable to "enrich" him for a brief period; and three, it demonstrated to me that a distinct kind of person is required to "do" Hive. Upon my arrival on Hive.

I was actually working eight to seven. Not that there was much of an incentive, but I knew of a guy who tracked my web2 creation expenses. In the past, we had written content for blogs and websites using Fiverr. We got the thrill of the internet. Even though we worked full-time jobs, we were still driven to simply explore and learn. I suffered from a chronic illness, which I still have, but it was better when I was a young adult in my mid-20s.

But getting the general public to create on Hive is tough; you can not force them to do it unless they have an innate desire to do so. When cryptocurrency was all the rage in Nigeria, we joined Hive. Likewise in 2017, I brought a friend on board. We were crowdsourcers, and in 2015, we made a respectable amount of money (back then, money was somewhat valuable, unlike now), but he was unable to keep up with Hive.

It has to do with internal motivation, in my opinion. It is impossible to artificially motivate someone who does not choose to do so. I have had a lot of bad onboarding experiences, and in most cases, the people behind these mistakes were unmotivated and simply underestimated their own capabilities. For nine years, I have continued to grind after having numerous online adventures. It all comes down to having a consistent mindset, which is something we cannot teach. It comes about naturally.

These days, I can usually tell when someone is unable to handle being an online hustler. Some individuals find it impossible to make pennies. In the past, I have worked gigs where my pay was pennies, but after months of accumulation, they do grow. This is the point of contention. When there is no incentive to learn and no one is holding them accountable, many people find it difficult to be motivated. That is just the way things are.

They are either not accustomed to putting in more effort for small rewards, or they value their time more. The fact is, when time and consistency are added to this phenomenon, it gets better. Grinding is a peculiar talent. On its own, persistence is a talent—the ability to work hard and learn new things even when results are not immediately apparent.

This talent is ingrained in the mind and is uncommon in and of itself. It is difficult to start small, particularly if you have a life that needs your attention. We are already seeing that the hive is a different breed for a rarer breed of people, and I am sure there will be a lot more simplification in the future. Understandably, my online adventures have been curtailed by my illnesses and losses. I have come to terms with the fact that I can not always be the strong, determined, persistent, and goal-oriented person I once was.

Everyone experiences it at some point. The point is that, even though they might not appear profitable at the moment, there are opportunities for which you truly must make all sacrifices.

HPUD

I chose to participate in HPUD and complete a 200-hive power-up. I am a little worried about the state of my health. I have some tests to run in a week or two, and then I should see a doctor to find out my prognosis and find out what else needs to be done after a month. I am silently praying that my health improves, that many miracles occur, and that the Almighty is able. He said, "Cast your burdens on me," and I voluntarily did just that. I am optimistic that there will be a bright spot somewhere, despite the horrible events that have occurred in my life over the past ten years.

It is not easy onboarding minds who aren't ready to grind, make sacrifices and even stay consistent. I have come to learn that consistency is a thing of the mind which comes naturally and it keeps developing when you are constantly on the "go" knowing fully well that your efforts would pay off. I have stopped talking about Hive to people except I see how intentional you are because not everyone wants to be here with the intention to grow and learn, when the rewards aren't coming, they give up.

I love your last paragraph about your health. Being optimistic especially believing God to take control is something great and worth it. I hope miracles happen for you. Casting one's burden to God is the best option, trust me. He will surely heal you, Jose. Just keep on being optimistic and praying.

Even sometimes people who are enthusiastic give up. It's a difficult thing because people themselves have to cultivate the values themselves to love a network. Sometimes they're just angry and leave. Most times I just tell people that they cannot cope because their zeal does not even match their willingness to learn. Even people who knows the internet well still have challenges.

Well about my last paragraph. I can do nothing, except through Christ that strengthens me. I reckon I can only do what I can do and I cannot do more than I can. Thank you for the kind words. Happy March.

Exactly. It is in our capacity to choose to do it right which in the end, we would come to appreciate what we have been able to do and how we have come this far. It's not easy though but we need to create that value within ourselves.

Well about my last paragraph. I can do nothing, except through Christ that strengthens me.

Yes. You are right. All will surely be well 🙏

I think when people make the choices themselves to join, they do a better job. For example, look at the population from splinterlands. The majority of them enter via the game and so remain.

Exactly. That's the truth. It's better than being pushed or coerced into it.

I too am worried about my health so my HPUD was small, I'm going to focus on accumulating more liquid Hive for awhile now. I'll still add half of each post to HP but the rest of the HBD I think I'll put into liquid Hive to sell if the time looks right!

How have you been feeling today?

I'm also worried too, but I guess doing some of the stuff on the chain keeps me tethered. Powering up for me is something I like doing for a long time. So I'm just getting out of my shell to find reasons to keep living again

Great write up, over the years I have realized that hive is not for everyone. Those who see the value in it will stick around and make the best of it. Anybody who is awake knows crypto is the future. As for your health concerns, do read Psalms 118:17; you will be here for a long time.
Thank you for sharing and do enjoy the upcoming weekend :}

Thank you for the Psalm , I know the verse very well and I just had to check back to confirm it. Thank you for your well wishes. I believe in the God and the promises of the scriptures.

Onboarding people to hive can be very difficult and I succeeded in recruiting few people and only 3 stuck around. It is not easy to onboard those who are not committed.

I want you to keep believing in God concern your health and i pray you get better soon

Well it can be a tricky thing. I just know we cannot motivate people unless they choose to do so by themselves

I want you to keep believing in God concern your health and i pray you get better soon

Thank you, I'm going to do that. It's quite a dicey situation and it has changed my life in many unpleasant ways, but I believe.

It's hard to onboard people. I tried quite hard towards the start and I was only able to get one person onboard. After that, that person stayed around for a while but they left later too. It just looks like they weren't that interested and the rewards weren't high enough to keep his attention.

Nice power up.

It surely isn't easy to keep up with something that isn't immediately rewarding especially when the current economic demands are considered, but consistency is what generates great reward. There have been testaments of what being consistent could do to a man's situation and there will continue to be many of such testaments, so the goal is to continue to build and push.
I hope you get better healthwise and the Almighty answers your prayers, stay safe.

That is the problem. Starting isn't always rewarding. However this is how the social space works. It takes years for constant effort to pay, sometimes it doesn't even pay even with the time taken. This is understandable. Sadly this is the only way it works.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate.

Onboarding with Hive is tough, so many keys, a harder webfront compared to Web2, but maybe less features than a blog like WordPress.

For many people, they need to earn fast and don't want to put the effort in.

For many people, they need to earn fast and don't want to put the effort in.

This is the problem, but it takes even more time and before they put in that time, they'll just about give up before they do.

I just feel the guy was thinking he’d be getting millions immediately (exaggeration) which is not happening. If you notice, there are so many new accounts that have been abandoned and that same thing happened to me when I joined Hive. I ran away for a year before I decided to come back and truly, the platform seem complex for newbies

I don’t really had the worst experience with onboarding, but I onboarded someone a couple of months ago, I think somewhere in the middle of last year that cost me a lot of regrets because of how they conducted themselves, dragging me into their mess to say the least. I’ve been more careful and selective of the people onboard after that, and I acknowledge that onboarding is very risky business.

I’m praying for your health, man. You’ve been very conscious and intentional about improving it, lately. I’m sure the effort you put it in will pay off.

I’ve barely been able to come online at all the past 2 days cos we’ve been hit with a serious wave of power outages and terrible network. It took me about an hour just to make my spl post, and another hour to load the images to make a twitter thread. It’s really bad right now and I’m furious. It’s taken me about 15 minutes to find this post and leave this comment. Man, if your offer to delegate me some of my rented cards is still up, I’ve finally been able to make a list of about 4 cards I could really use.

Like you've said, onboarding is a risky business and I mostly don't do it. Because it goes badly a lot of times. A lot of people are coming in from Ghana Venezuela and Nigeria. So I think those who probably know what they're doing will pave way for themselves. It's an individual choice.

Thanks for your prayers, it truly means a lot.

As for your outage, I thought Ghana was better at it than Nigeria. Howbeit, I hope it improves. It can be infuriating.
Well it depends on the cards you want. If I have them I'll delegate to you.

As for your outage, I thought Ghana was better at it than Nigeria

Man, Ghana is slowly becoming Nigeria by the day. These issues started about a week ago. At first, I thought it was just the place I’m currently living, but I moved back home last night and it seems it’s even worse. In about a 30 minutes time span, the light went off and on about 4 times. Add that to the network taking forever to load things, and that’s how you have a terrible night.

Howbeit, I hope it improves

Thanks man. It seems it’s improving already.

the cards

Baakjira, Skargore, Zyriel, Daarg Dreadblast, Djinn Oshanus, Any flank with a low mana cost and somewhat good health.

Also man, I have a question. How do I unlock my souldbound cards?

If possible, you can show me the pictures of these cards, but I only have one BCX of bajikara, it's a legendary and even one BCX is like 5$.

Djin Oshannus too, I don't have an extra copy, just one that I use. A card with good health.

Tell me the element you mostly use to play so that I can search for am available card with good health.

As for soulbound cards, you need to earn them. You need to be in bronze 2 to start earning soulbound card and even earning SPS as well.

If possible, you can show me the pictures of these cards,

Alright

SkargoreZyrielDaarg Dreadblast

but I only have one BCX of bajikara

Man don’t worry, I appreciate anything you can delegate.

Djin Oshannus too, I don't have an extra copy, just one that I use. A card with good health.

Oh don’t worry about it then

Tell me the element you mostly use to play so that I can search for am available card with good health.

I use the fire element most frequently

These are very expensive cards lol they're easily over 500$ if you put them together haha. I don't any of them. But I'll search my fire deck and delegate the stuffs I have.

You can call me at any time if the day. Let me put you through

Loo how muuuuch? I see many people I battle with using them, so I thought they must be cheap. Damn!!!!!

I’ll call you tomorrow, man. There’s a lot to ask. Lol

It's worth noting that success is not achieve in one.

It's not easy to change people's minds, so when we tell people about something, at first they don't believe it at all and even make fun of it, but later when things get better. And if they don't get it, they will regret it.
