It's been four months since I joined a Guild on Splinterlands, and it's been a very good decision. Before I joined, I used to think I'll be 100% at a disadvantage because I didn't have Gladius cards.
All Gladius cards have bloodlust ability and this has become one of the most dreaded abilities in modern-day Splinterlands gameplay.
One unique thing about this gladius card is that they seem soulbound-ish, but you need to earn merit from ranked battles and playing in the Guild to be able to earn and be able to use them.
So while you might not necessarily need money to own them, the assets used to earn them are acquired by having money.
Acquiring free value is not cheap
There are assets you might not necessarily make any money from, just by owning them, but they increase your chances of earning better rewards, they maintain this value because they're not tradable, and even if they were, then apart from earning SPS, there are no external incentive to joining a guild.
However, assets that are not tradable on splinterlands comes with some limitation. Splinterlands is all about money, and sometimes when an asset doesn't primarily have a dollar value, it's still going to encounter money adjudication discrimination and this is one of the reasons why I feel that Gladius cards are very powerful.
Playing Against An Undervalued Opponent
They're mostly underrated in any gameplay, except in the guild. So this is why I call them auxiliary assets because they're acting as reasons why you have better chances at winning more or getting better rewards.
Now, in other to further Incentivize the value of owning Gladius cards, you'll see that they're exchanged for DEC if you decide to permanently burn them.
However, I don't think many people would consent to burning their gladius cards and this is because they're not just game changers, earning them can be challenging, especially if you have to depend on ranked battle rewards and Guild rewards to acquire them.
The Dream Of Owning A Maxed-out Gladius Deck
Now for players who are playing in smaller guilds, it might take as much as one week to earn 2k merits, which means it might take 3 to 4 years of constantly earning merit rewards to have a complete and maxed-out deck of gladius cards and I'm certainly sure that the Guild-play is not up to four years old.
So gladius Cards are the real deal, I can count the times the cards won me battles just by activating the bloodlust ability.
For example, it becomes a game changer when you face an opponent with a lineup of $1000. I've seen a player with a maxed-out lineup complaining of being beaten by an opponent with level 3 Gladius cards.
These cards might not be boisterous or fancily expensive, but when they get in their strides, only a ruleset can stop them from completely destroying an opponent.
The downside of the SPS requirement is beginning to kick in
My rewards have drastically reduced, since the SPS requirement for maximum rewards kicked in. In silver I used to earn as high as 12 chests in my daily focus, nowadays I mostly do 4, at best 5, before running out of ECR or encountering formidable opponents.
My losing streak has increased, of course, this was expected, there is now bigger competition for rewards since the bots have been removed from modern.
I hope I can be able to hit 20 gold chests for this season (it's looking rather unlikely) splinterlands is currently undergoing crazy and massive changes, it's difficult to calculate your earning capacity unless you are constantly throwing more skin in the game (pun intended)

Looking at guilds, I think they'll help accounts grow fast. Definitely an underrated aspect of the game.
I think I did underate it from the beginning of my splinterlands journey, I just decided to play it when gladius cards were integrated into ranked battles.
Good to see you stacking some good Glad cards. Did you try to rent any SPS? I think even renting 1000 could improve your rewards drastically in silver league at least. For Gold, I dont really know.
I had to find out the cost of renting and the truth is that even if it wasn't that expensive, I still need to upgrade some of my summoner and the cash is not available though.
I feel you there, it is weighing up what is possible or not.
I also joined a guild last year. Most of my common Gladius cards are at level 5. I want level 6 versions of them which would be way more efficient. I need 2-3 months to achieve that goal.
Woooow your gladius cards are already at level 5? That's amazing. You need constant guild success, good merit drop as well just to get your GC to level six. Have you considered the time it might get them to be maxed-out?
It is an endless investment, and I won't be surprised if another money eating update is given... I think they are focused on land at the moment though .... You can rent staked sps in the market they are quite cheap.
It's truly an endless investment. I know I can actually rent SPS, but then the reasources to do so isn't available. I know they're cheap too, but I also want to upgrade some of my summoners man, hahaha all these things takes money lol.
I think the most feared ability is regeneration. earth gladiator combining bloodlust and regeneration is the best unit.I think so .
Hahaha that's true, bloodlust and regeneration is almost impossible to play against or even win. It can be fraustrating

The game looks great
Hmm
This makes sense
I even have a little money that I can use to invest in Splinterlands but I don't know much about it. This is very helpful

Splinterlands has been tough and I have been losing a lot more lately. I think the people who moved from wild probably advanced to my level. So it's way more competitive. Also, my gladius is far from being maxed. It's going to be a long time as I only get a few packs every season.

Glad your experience has been good! Gladius cards are a must now since the new reward summoners and rulesets allow you to use them.
Exactly, I think it's been amazing thus far. The cards are a must for everyone who wants to truy compete. The best part is that you can even use them with soulbound summoners
