There are people who find it difficult to live within their means because their approval lies somewhere else.
The reason why this is so is because they're friends with people who are financially better than they are.
While it's not bad to have rich friends, people inadvertently raise their standards to conform to the standards of people who are financially better than they are, at the expense of their economic balance.
People who are in this position are often blinded by the illusion that knowing rich people will inadvertently change their financial capacity one day.
*This is one of the dangers of "faking it till you make it"
I once dated a very rich girl when I was 19, I practically had to buy her things the standards her parents could afford.
When she buys me things, I had to match the cost of what she bought for me, or else the equation would be improper, and because of this, I began to see myself at her financial level, while earning the salary of an average person.
There's a difference between knowing rich people and actually being friends with them
knowing your true position gives you a clearer valuation of your financial capacity.
When we've still struggling and trying to build, it's important to stay clear of already established people. While we should mingle with them business-wise, it's important to steer clear of their spending habits, this is where one should draw the line.
Being unable to make the money others are making despite working twice as hard as them can be intimidating, but that's okay when you come to terms with it. There's no shame in being average and being at the lowest stage of affordability.
This is because these are life's phases that are meant to be temporary, depending on the level of effort we put in.
This brings me back to the point that life's expectations now truncate the concept of due process
People want to leave the phase they are in life without having to sacrifice time, go through the process, get experience, and move at their own pace.
This is partly because life is no longer constitutional, the speed at which mankind wants to move is generally baffling.
So people who want to move slowly, grow slowly, or do things at the right time are often seen as the weird ones. For someone like me, being in crypto has taught me the essence of time.
This is one of the reasons why I inculcate solid parameters and conditions that require me to live in my own bubble.
Pressure is part of life, but it kills as much as it motivates.
I hardly keep people around, because this is easier than having to explain that you're broke. Young people want to spend money, wear expensive things spend more money. For me, I still see value in things; experiences that are low cost. This is because building a future requires substantial sacrifice.
This isn't a post against instant gratification.
The truth is that life requires a balance, however, there are people who have tipped the scale of their balance and this has unsettled how far they can grow.
One of the best things that has happened to me is streamlining and determining people who I associate with and the internet has done a great job in helping me accomplish this.
Most of the friends or people I keep around in real life are low-budget, and while I cannot say my cost of living has reduced, I like to take solace in the ideas that it could be worse.

I guess i am opportune to be in same shoe.
I am not sure if i should tell the little story or i should just hold on to myself because the person in discussion might end up reading this.Another day of another interesting content @josediccus.
Though, i have recently learnt how to keep a distance from him/her, not because we had any disagreement, but because he/she is already getting established.
Though he/she makes his/her income from another platform, but i choose to keep a distance inorder to avoid pressure.
I've already draft out a sustainable plan that would aid my growth, and also seeking for more advice that would keep me going, and i think hive is going to be a long run project for me.
No pressure!!!
No problem!!!
Just have to keep pushing, because there is still a long run to make🙌.
Haha, way to go. I applaud the fact that you've used he/she, they might not able to know you're referring to them, and better still, they might not come across this.
Sometimes, we avoid people, not because of any form of disagreement, but just because our goals, life or ambition doesn't seem to align with theirs and even when they do, we might just be pressured to live up to their standard, especially when they're in a better place financially.
Hopefully, your plans will turn out well for you.
Amen🤗
Interesting post, keeping up with the Joneses or trying to be on the same level as your rich neighbour can be quite draining and has destroyed most people. Everyone will never be at the same level, that's why faking it till you make it never works out for most people. Finding satisfaction in what you already have and working hard for more is the way to go. Human nature is that no amount resource is ever enough, no matter how much it is.
Thank you for sharing these two wonderful thought provoking posts on minimalism. When it comes to human needs, satisfaction is a bottomless pit that can never be reached. Do enjoy the upcoming weekend :}
Satisfaction is truly a bottomless pit and trying to keep up with the spending or living culture of others can be psychologically and financially draining if you ask me. However, people would still do these because of the pressure they're facing or going through. Pressure is the mother of so many financial mishap and it's often difficult for people to admit it sometimes.
It's however very important to find our own satisfaction. Thank you for coming through.
Life definitely requires a balance and that is hard to find. We all want stuff but if we do that, then we can't save things to improve out lives in the future. Getting some form of passive income so we don't have to work our entire lives is something I want.
Yeah, some passive income eventually does it. No one wants to work all their lives and that's why we tend to sacrifice some form of present gratification just to better the future.
Being with rich people doesn't make one rich. It is their money. And I do agree that young people want to spend money that's one of the elements that increased internet fraud.
But the more experienced you are in life, things become clearer.
True. However people get the illusion that they're also big, just by being acquaintaned with people who are actually big.
As for young people. The pressure to drive expensive cars all other, it's a plague that's driving the society really mad.
Well, they are good to go with such an illusion (fake life). We all know how it ends.
Yeah, I agree it is.
it's frustrating. it is best not to save but to keep modesty. if I have it, I have it; if I don't have it, I don't have it.
It sometimes goes deeper than that
Again and Again I will insist on the fact that pressure is not for me, it doesn't work for me.
I have learned a lot from some Wise Men, it's better to Be yourself, Life is too short to be Running another Man's Race. Fake Life is an Unhealthy Lifestyle
One aspect or truth about pressure is that it's everyone who actually gets to feel it, especially when we inardvetently get into some environments we actually shouldn't. But......well, discipline tends to help us control it.
So True, Discipline is a key factor, it has Helped me a lot, If not Men go don Loose guard
Haha, well even when we do, we learn vital lessons.

One thing that we need to learn to do in life is how how maintain our standard of living so that we won't have to start begging people for money
Spending how much money your friends are spending especially when they make more money than you is not a wise idea. It is one of the fastest ways to get broke
