Web 3.0 And The Health Sector

Introduction

Technology is advancing quickly throughout the world. Every industry must embrace technology and integrate it into its operations. I want to talk specifically about the health industry.
I'm interested in current trends because I work in the health field. Why do some individuals believe that healthcare providers are restricted to hospitals and wear white regalia? Nah! That is untrue. We follow current affairs closely to learn about the diseases and medical technology that are developing and advancing. Using myself as a case study, I'm not just constrained to the hospital's walls. I learn new techniques for tackling problems, advance my skills, and make a difference in the world!
However, could there be a relationship between Web3 and health workers or health work? Absolutely! Surprised? Don't worry; let's talk about it.

Relationship Between Web3 And Health Workers

Imagine this scenario: Mr. Paul came back from work after a hectic day, and while lying on his bed, he felt a sharp pain below his abdomen. He tried to put himself together, but he realized that it's not just a casual pain; it's serious! And so he needs to visit the hospital—Uchechi's Hospital.
As he tries to brace up, he can't help but groan within himself. He managed to get himself into his car; he doesn't want anyone to know he is in pain. He places a high value on his privacy. So he didn't ask for help to be taken to the hospital. When he reached the hospital, he was unable to get out of his car. The gatemen, seeing how he was struggling to get out, rushed to his rescue. He was assisted into the hospital. The doctor had to give him some analgesics to relieve his pain. What a relief for Paul when the pain began to subside! Now his scan result shows that he has a rare disease and needs to undergo surgery. Paul is always ready for the operation, but he doesn't want people to know about it. For Paul, privacy is everything! Leveraging Web3, Dr. Duke collaborated with specialists from Nigeria, Asia, and Europe. He shares with them information about the disease, and collaboratively, they analyze the case and share their research findings. Therefore, Dr. Duke was able to get the needed information and help to successfully carry out the operation on Paul!

Now let's shift our gaze to reality. Considered reasonable, how about the scenario above? Yes, without a doubt. One advantage of Web 3 for the healthcare industry is the way the doctor was able to collaborate with experts from all over the world while remaining in his comfort zone and communicate patient information securely and easily. Yes, patient information must be kept private, and since Web3 is a decentralized platform, it enables health professionals to do so while learning about patients and working together. This is one benefit of Web 3 for the health sector: collaboration.

Benefits of Web3 To The Healthcare System

  1. Collaboration in Healthcare Ecosystems:

As a health worker, I know how important it is to collaborate with other health professionals. But Web 3 has made it even easier to do so. Health personnel can collaborate with specialists from around the world, not minding geographical or institutional boundaries. Collaboration gives room for cross-disciplinary research projects and peer-to - peer learning, and this can go a long way toward contributing to quick global medical advancement.

  1. Data Security: The confidentiality or security of patient information or data is one aspect of health ethics. Web 3 demonstrates that it is compatible with this as a decentralized platform. Thus, we health workers can securely share research findings and patients' records with only authorized parties, like doctors and researchers, knowing fully well that unauthorized changes in the data provided will not occur. This, no doubt, will enhance patient privacy and information security.
  1. Patient Empowerment and Education: Health professionals can better educate patients about their diseases, including available treatments and preventive measures, by developing educational content utilizing blockchain technology. They will most certainly feel more knowledgeable after reading it, improving patient compliance and overall health results.

NOTE: It is true that Web 3 is a fantastic notion for us health professionals to completely embrace, but we need exercise caution when utilizing it. Why? Every day, algorithms for artificial intelligence get more intelligent. Therefore, extra attention must be paid when using it. Thus, as the world is moving rapidly into technology, we must ensure that we use it responsibly with patients best interests at heart!

CONCLUSION

For health professionals, the transition to Web 3.0 is a really positive one, in my opinion. Health professionals may improve patient care, increase medical research, and create a more diverse healthcare ecosystem by embracing blockchain technology and working with experts from around the world without regard to institutional or geographic borders.
