Both Happy & Scared for ChatGPT. Why?

How often do you use AI for your every day operations?

I use it often, usually daily.

The reason I use it mostly is to refine some of my emails, to give me some idea about promotions that I run for my job etc.

Anyways, I would love to hear how you use it and I would like to share with you two of my todays experiences that could be useful to you.

1st... the scary one
ChatGPT knows my name and last name!

I gave it an email text today, asking it to refine it for me.
ChatGPT did refine it but...

At the end of the email it added my first and last name - and Best Regards!

I had not given a prompt with my full name today, and I think I have never given my full name to it. I am usually very careful to not disclose personal information of me or my partners.

How the heck did it know my name?

And as I write these lines, I just thought ..
Why not ask it?

--- Hm... a small break to go ask

So, ChatGPT suggests that I mentioned my name during a session - but in fact, I did not!

And when I told it I had not given that information to it, it claimed to update its memory (I suppose it should have asked for my confirmation) - and then look at what it said

I am sure that this conversation could go on, and I may do it - just to test it.

Can you even imagine what kind of info it keeps for all of us?
What we think, what we ask, what we need...
Scary.

And here is something else about ChatGPT - as you are chatting with it about something, it can create a picture for you! Even best, it can create both the prompt and the image right away.

p.s. the first image is created with ChatGPT - but after asking for a change, I was warned that I reached my image creation limit.

So, what do you think?
Do you use ChatGPT or AI?
Does it know your name and would you mind if it did?

Do you think that we drive away from our own privacy more and more every day?

I would love to know your thoughts!

I use ChatGPT a lot, including using it as replacements for Grammarly and my 'digital' car manual. As for knowing your last name, ChatGPT searches (scrapes?) web pages. So, maybe ChatGPT found your last name on a website?

I am not sure, but it is really strange.
We are swimming in strange waters :)

I dare not use all these AI stuff! They are too invasive and uncontrollable!

I think it is the best thing to do.
The bad thing is that I really need it for my work, it saves me loads of time...

I think you know how to desk with this AI stuff than I could. So, you should be alright.

Various companies buy and sell records about users.

If you didn't accidentally copy your name in from an email, my guess is that it was added based on some data it had about you from the company.

Creepy.

Meanwhile there's various information that ChatGPT and the other AI chats refuse to answer.

I am interested in the various AI chatbots for the future but I think they're still lacking in many regards and need more fact checking added.
